Fuck it, lets do it live and throw the Hail Mary. Benjamin Boyce has interviewed James several times, there is a clip up thread and I've been listening to Benjamin's recent videos where it's becoming clear that he is not at all on board with whatever James is cooking up. He has been talking about it a lot but James and Wokal Distance (James' online debate sphere toady who frequently operates as a surrogate for James) have not been on in quite a while. Benjamin also posts here sometimes.

@Benjamerican are you still on speaking terms with James, or has he declared you a reactionary rightwing extremist? I assume he is totally unwilling to be pressed about his recent spergouts, even in the friendly forum of your show?

So James has now fully become what he hates. Here he is posting a nonsensical screed where he attacks another man's employment and threatens frivolous legal action over being criticized on the Internet. Sounds pretty fucking woke to me.

Idk i feels pretty consistently kinda like slightly fightynm and slightly pathetic. He's using the same energy of insults and sperg outs these ones are just more obviously harder to justify.

I'm almost certain he's written similarly long sperg outs on lefty stuff along time ago but I don't think he writes them in a panic.i think he goes "look at me I am so scholarly. I'll write down everything wrong and then Jordan Peterson will read it and I'll get good boy points with my fellow scholars as we laugh at people." And does a good long winded job about it.

James had another manic stream-of-consciousness meltdown trying to explain Woke Right and Woke Left in which he fails to define Woke Right at all beyond it being the negative of Woke Left. It's incoherent, rambling, internally inconsistent, and he tries to coin a phrase "basing" which is the fascist version of "queering" apparently. He touches on "sociognosticism" which I have never heard of before and am pretty sure he made up, the Frankfurt School, Carl Schmitt, and Yin-Yang. Horseshoe theory: full-retard.

Perfect description and yet there is no capturing just how purely psychotic his ravings really are.

He is a good example of why highly intelligent yet seriously mentally ill people can fly under the radar and avoid treatment for decades. He can talk his way into or out of just about anything. He can convince himself of any insane theory, and he can persuade at least a few of his fans or followers too.

If you call him out as being off his gourd, he will retort to the tune of 4,000 words about how your concern for his mental wellness only reflects some Foucaultian bla bla bla Baudrillard bla bla bla satanic reversal bla bla bla Mandaeanism bla bla bla.

I watched some of the podcasts that he was on, and I enjoyed his contributions, though I stopped watching stuff he was very early on as he was extremely repetitive.

I had no idea he was this schizo as I don't have a twitter account. Even in his good podcast appearances, he was very much "If your only tool is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail". He kept using postmodernism and cultural marxism to explain everything. Whilst those ideologies are key to understand how queer theory developed and was spread, they cannot explain the woke movement and where we are now completely.

Random anecdote on theosophy: a relative who is into quack medicine went to some seminar, and the speaker was suggesting books from a guy who was part of this movement. I googled this author while relative was telling this experience and seeing the theosophist logo and reading it was very much a shock as I had not fully realized how much quackery relative was in!

I think this is all James Atheism coming home to roost. James is that Nietzsche quote about when you look into the abyss the abyss looks back into you made flesh. He wanted to fight the monsters, but he has no internal framework so he became one. Bring a "Classical Liberal" isn't a sufficient condition for public morality or a functional society, but he really wants to pretend like it is.

The American experiment was essentially handing the cultural and moral portions of social regulation into local and nongovernment institutions. Thats all the stuff that went into freefall collapse in the 90's and 00's. I get the desire to run the tape back to 1991 and try again, but at the end of the day the demand to change nothing of substance makes me pretty sure it's actually just about reliving your childhood/young adult years like how the boomers are all obsessed with reliving the 60s.

I'm late to this, but it does. In a sense you're describing Buddhism. Spiritual beings, but no Absolute.

Of course Buddhism doesn't make sense either, but it's a precedent for that kind of worldview.

I haven't checked in on James in a minute. Is there any reason to believe he has seperated from his wife? I worry what will happen to him without a spouse to pull him out of the twittersphere for a couple hours a week.

I'm starting to worry he might rage quit and take down all of New Discourses. I would be genuinely remiss if I lost access to the Social Justice Glossary. (I'm aware archive.org pages exist, but it'd be swell if there was a pdf of the whole thing.)

There's such a tendency among Heterodox conservatives to get audience captured. I'm not sure James was ever seriously mentally ill. I think after Covid, his biggest supporters were really into occultism and shit and he drank the koolaid by osmosis.
