These people are exactly the kind of thing I'm afraid of turning into. I still live with my folks and I'm still kinda dependent on them.

Recently however, I got a job as a porter at a bowling alley. And while the job itself can be kinda boring and tedious, it's definitely made a huge difference for me. I can actually be around and talk to people without being too nervous, I've made quite a few new friends, and I feel like I'm actually useful. Now I'm taking an online driving course and working to get my license.

I can understand why these people feel the way they do, hell, I still get depressed and feel things are hopeless at times. But, nothing is going to get better unless YOU take the initiative and try to better yourself.

Social skills are exactly like any other skills. You have to work at them and they develop the more your around others.

I actually had a long, happy relationship with an amazing girl who helped make my life a lot brighter, and it all started because I tutored her in a subject and managed to help her pass a class she was struggling in. See? Being nice to girls isn't being a "spineless mangina" it's being a man.
