Does the school next door to him know they have a self-confessed child rapist next door who is also so insane he doesn't think there was even anything wrong with him raping a child?

It's not even just about sex, although that creepy enough as it is.
These types think everyone should find them attractive and be open to dating them. Your orientation doesn't matter, your personal preferences don't matter.

I think the statement "If you don't want to have sex with somebody just because they are trans you are transphobic" does have a certain truth to it, if "just because they are trans" to mean "there is not a single other reason but them being trans". Simply not being attracted to a the person in question would be another reason so you could say "If you don't want to have sex with somebody despite being attracted to them just because they are trans".

So that's why the message of Labelle or similar people is not that people shoud find them attractive, but rather that everybody is secretly already finding them attractive and just doesn't act upon that because of transphobia. That's why all these stories have to go:
1. Cis person is about to have sexual intercourse or about to commit to a relationship with a transperson because they are attracted to them.
2. Transperson reveals that they are trans.
3. Cis person completely flips their former stance running away disgusted, claiming that they just aren't attracted to trans people.

Someone said there are other sex offenders that live near him. I think it was a receipt blog. So they might know.

But really... no. Making the decision to have sex with someone, or not, is always your own prerogative. You don't owe a sex partner the same open-mindedness you should show a job applicant or a new neighbor. You have no obligation to any one person or groups of people in that regard. If you choose not to have sex with a trans person, only because they are trans, then that doesn't necessarily make you transphobic.

Now... if you took it beyond the personal, and said no one should have sex with trannies because you found it yucky, then yes, you'd be transphobic.

Isn't distribution of CP HIGHLY illegal to the point that minors can get in trouble?
Yes. Minors have been prosecuted for production of child porn for taking nudes of themselves. But yeah, under the current interpretation of the law, the kid doesn't even have to be nude for it to be considered child porn, it just has to be considered sexually provocative.

Does he realize that just sending a picture somewhere leads to years in prison?

Probably not. He lives in his own world. He's actually worse than Nick, and more dangerous. Nick at least understood on some level that other people considered what he did wrong, and that he could be punished for violating social norms. That's why he went into denial mode. James thinks he's done nothing wrong, and society is wrong to punish him, and that he gets to make his own rules. He may be aware, dimly, that other people disapprove of what he's done, but he doesn't care. He's posted child porn several times, and always tries to justify it. He won't stop until either his parents cut down his internet, or he's arrested.

Tl;Dr: if you don't want to date someone because they are trans, you are a transphobe, but if you don't want to have sex with someone with a vagina, no matter the gender, you are not transphobic
