We've had some high-profile "woke" games flop hard over the past few months (Hyenas, Concord, Dustborn). However, a lot of weird, miscellaneous wokeism exists in the indie sphere that flies under most peoples' radars. Here is a place to discuss, mock, and/or complain about them.

A few games to start us off:

We Are OFK​

A pozzed "interactive adventure" game about some L.A. hipsters that form a pop band. Characters include three queer Women of Color (including one "non-binary" black woman) and a gay man.

"Gameplay" mostly consists of making very cringey dialogue choices, while occasionally having to listen to several-minutes-long songs made by the game's creative director and self/insert, Teddy Dief (they/them).




r/gamingcirclejerk got very upset when people made fun of OFK on release, but neither their complaining, nor game journos' signal-boosting, could save the game's sales.

I Was A Teenage Exocolonist​

A moderately successful sci-fi game about a bunch of kids who are raised on an alien planet. Notorious for its diverse cast, including multiple transgender and "non-binary" characters, one of whom is transitioned from male to female at the age of ten (!)



Aside from that, exactly zero members of the main cast are both white and male, and the only character who fits into both of those categories is a mustache-twirling imperialist villain. Every character is some version of LGBTQetc, and it features multiple polyamorous characters, and a furry character.



Riddled with far-left activist propaganda, with the main characters having left Earth to escape a "capitalist dystopia".

Our America​

A bizarre upcoming VR game about "life as a Black person in America". You play as a black man and his son who are pulled over by an evil, racist, trigger-happy cop while driving to school. The reveal trailer is hilarious:

The currently existing gameplay trailer is equally hilarious, and shows how terrible and poorly-written the project is. Skip to 6:15 to watch the kid get gunned down in his car seat for holding a toy gun.

Pacific Drive. I've complained about it in other threads, but to keep it short. Driving survival game set in an anomaly filled exclusion zone. Imagine STALKER is an estate car.

However, the game pulled a bait and switch. The game is actually about a gay couple, and there's BLM and progressive pride flags in a game ostensibly set in the 90s. The pride flags allegedly weren't in the YouTube previews because no reviewer with early access mentioned them, and the whole gay thing doesn't appear until late game.

There was also a King's Field clone called Lunacid. It was supposedly looking great in early access, only to add pronouns for 1.0 to own the chuds.

I don't know if this counts. It's Only Money tries so hard to be a "lol so ran-dumb" game where you fight against capitalism the corrupt mayor. Fight for the downtrodden by stealing ...from the downtrodden?

I don't know if the plot would count as woke, but the aesthetics do, at least to me.

I actually own Lunacid and while its true the dev is they/them, usually a mark of insufferability I am well aware, the game is actually a solid dungeon crawler with great vibes. Also, the list of custom pronouns is like half joke/parody ones so you can take from that what you will.

The same developer made Lost in Vivo which I also enjoy and has what can only be described as a Cyrax Wilkins monster called Sortiris lol.

One of the most unfortunately woke indie games is Timespinner. Mechanically, it's a very good metroidvania. The animation and music is fantastic. But the character design and writing just makes the game insufferable. Every single character in the game is a troon, fag, or lesbian, the only heterosexual in the game is the villain. All the white people in the game are unlikeable assholes who are rude for no reason. There's long segments where characters talk around a campfire about their pasts, but instead of adding lore and saying anything interesting at all, they just talk about being polyamourous and gay. But even ignoring this, the dialogue itself is very poorly written in a way that doesn't suit the fantasy aesthetic at all, it's more like a marvel movie, with no seriousness to any of the relationships except very cliche scenes that don't affect the characters later, and combined with easily the most annoying girlboss main character I've ever seen.

Also, the only good race in the game is a tribe of lesbian witches, who also include transexuals for some reason, so a ton of the dialogue is misandrist as well.
On the steam page, you'll notice that many of the positive reviews specifically mention the random insertion of sexuality talks, and the garbage writing. It was so annoying for even most of the normie players that steam user AliceEngine rewrote the entire script of the game, and it's now considered an essential mod. Due to how ugly the characters looked, there were also mods to turn the sprites of characters into redrawn white blonde or redhead characters, lol

Eventually it was discovered that the devs for this game apparently didn't have the time to do the writing themselves, since they got it funded on Kickstarter and had to make a deadline. So they outsourced it to a Silverstring Media, who seem to be dollar store Sweet Baby Inc. for small indie studios. There's a steam curator that checks games for their involvement.

Another woke game I played was Unsighted, where you play as a black lesbian android. But thankfully, it didn't go any further than that, and the characters were at least aesthetically pleasing. The little writing there was, was good enough to not affect the rest of the gameplay, and the actual story was also well done. I would honestly recommend it if you like top-down hack and slash games like Hyper Light Drifter or Children of Morta.

Road 96 is the first thing to come to mind for me.
Whole game is basically an allegory for Trump even though it’s supposed to be based on 90s nostalgia. It was heavily praised by critics and I believe was enough of a success to get a sequel, but quickly fell off after the initial praise.

i liked road 96, writing was cringe, going full "omg teens are our future, we must listen to them since they're so wise!" and zoey is the worst character in the game, keeps getting people killed and kidnapped while playing revolutionary to make her daddy angry.

I just had to dig up this bugsnax interview from 2021 and post some bits for this thread, it give us a insight into the mind of these wokies. Its all about their sexuality and presentation, this is like normal behavior for these sickos when they make a kid game, its horrendous..

Bugsnax launched alongside the PS5, and what caught my attention was how inclusive it felt, with several LGBT characters and couples in the game. This inclusion felt so natural, so seamless - it was normal, a part of life, being LGBT. After beating the game, I spoke to Bugsnax's creative director Kevin Zuhn about this representation, "It was very important [to represent LGBT people in Bugsnax]. We wanted to make sure that our queer characters were interesting, relatable, and significant to the story.

"Indie games are overflowing with queer characters and creators," Zuhn says, "Though we're all fighting against obscurity in a niche industry. Ideally, the result of increasing inclusion is that queer games become less niche and more visible! [But], if we're talking about the triple-A industry, I think it's improved in recent years but has a ways to go yet. It's great seeing queer characters as part of the biggest games of the year. But I think we're still in a mode of treating that as exceptional when it should just be standard. There's also still a lack of queer representation when it comes to who's making the games."

Zuhn is one of these queer creators, as they are non-binary, as are several of the the other folks who worked on Bugsnax that's why "it feels normal to me to include queer characters," suggesting that more representation behind the scenes is the key to seeing it on screen too.

While the triple-A scene has been hit and miss with its representation, those who are pushing for more LGBT inclusion shouldn't be ignored. I also talked to The Sims 4's team to get their insight on representation in gaming, the reason for it, how they do it, and why they do it.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Billie Bust Up yet. It has two threads in the Games section. It's supposed to be a musical platformer that will have some "rhythym-based fights." It's also gay and woke as fuck because every character is some kind of faggot (like Guardian Spice if you remember that trash from Kate Leth) Gonna be taking a lot of stuff from both threads because the original BBU thread died after the devs admitted it will be woke af, and the greifing thread is pretty much dead until there's a major update:

They have an obsession with one of their OCs, which is a flamboyant owl. They love the owl so much, they made plushies of the fucking owl and other characters...while they're still working on the game. That's right, this game is supposed to be out before the end of 2024, and we're almost done with August.

Don't like how the game is going to be full of woke shit and maybe some Communist/political agendas? Too bad. The developers don't care.

Some retard from the team got "internet celebrity" Doobus Goobus to voice a gay cat character in the game, and said "celebrity" has a thread because he's an insufferable sjw who is ruining his own career. Have a look a the amazing graphics ~$200k usd or ~147k pounds funded (If I did my conversions correctly. They managed to get 146,270 pounds from woke leftists and furries on Kickstarter):

Apparently the developers may or may not have dodged a bullet when Humble Bundle announced layoffs just recently. It could affect the game's release.


Let's see if this comes out before or after the US elections. By the way, did I tell you this game is going to have a Journalist mode?

An incredibly boring, preachy game that lacks anything resembling gameplay. It appears to have been made on a shoestring budget. It attempts to simulate what life is like for an Africa-American High School student living in the south side of Chicago. According to their steam page the developer, Culture Shock Games LLC has worked on this game for 4 years but, it makes Dustborn look like Borderlands by comparison. The game has a really shitty basic 3d artstyle that makes it look like an early PS2 game.

It is also afraid of showing anything controversial at all

One thing that struck me as funny is that during a test the main character takes, the quiz questions turn from something that would belong on a test
