The follow up to the highly underrated Wolfenstein: The New Order from 2014 launches the same day as We Wuz Kangz and Mario Odyssey. I quite enjoyed The New Order, it had fun game play, was a throw back to 90s shooters. Along comes Doom 2016 which looked and played gorgeously, so I hope the engine and Vulcan API looks just as good on Wolfenstein 2 as it did in Doom 2016. Bethesda bias aside, iD Software is still developing good stuff (Quake Champions excluded). Anyone else looking forward to this?

Gane looks fun and lol to those thinking the marketing was evil and insulting. Also lol to those saying they love the series now because the marketing.

One thing I hope for is a mecha Hitler boss and the game not crashing me to the desktop like the previous game did.

I see many people on both twitter and other websites crossing their fingers expecting /pol/ and other alt-right groups including stormfront to launch a backlash on Wolfenstein 2, that's pretty unlikely because last time i checked, /pol/ pretty much loves "The Man in the High Castle".

Good thing I don't make gaming purchases based on what the 12 year old on /v/ and /pol/ tell me I should like.

Likewise, I've been a fan of the series since I was fairly young, starting with Wolf 3D. This whole shitstorm is basically internet stupidity rearing its ugly mug with both sides mucking everything up. Loved The New Order, will get this one on friday. Get Psyched!

Haven't been paying much attention to it since TNO was an extremely mediocre shooter with some hilariously bad stealth.

Was very mildly optimistic they might improve the game but some guy got the game early and posted a playthrough on youtube. I haven't actually watched much but it's 5 hours long and the final boss is a cutscene so that makes it clear enough that they put all the effort into marketing instead of improving the actual game part.

It's actually been leaked out and posted on torrent sites, 2 days before release. /v/ is talking about it quite a bit.

I agree with the guy at Bethesda who said "Killing Nazis shouldn't be controversial"
makes it clear enough that they put all the effort into marketing instead of improving the actual game part.
The marketing is usually done by an entirely different company than the one making the game.

Been playing Wolfenstein since my my parents bought a Windows 3.1 way back in 1993. Looking forward to continuing the adventures of BJ Blazkowitz (part man, part cinder-block wall), as he mutters incoherently under his breath whilst dual wielding shotguns the size of jet turbines and turning Nazis into assorted piles of pulp and ash.

I will agree however the marketing for the game for New Colossus has been very groan-worthy. Kinda wish they returned to a similar campaign to how they advertised The New Order, which kept a perfect balance between goofy yet terrifying.

My first impression is they're trying to go back to the slightly ridiculous feeling as we got in New Order and older Wolfenstein games.

That being said, they've given BJ a super dark, super serious backstory, complete with tyranical racist father who hates niggers (that BJ made out with as a kid) and the jews he married into that feels a bit.... dumb when I want to just go about shooting up Nazis in small town america.

Interested in playing as I thought The New Order was excellent, but I'll wait for a price drop. Got enough shit to play.

Playing Wolfenstein 2009 at the moment, actually. Overall it's just okay, but the occult Nazi shit is cool.

They couldnt really restrain themselves from putting in a charachter that is a white, conservative, christian, cis gendered, racist, bully that spouts lines like: " it's a white mans world now, gotta keep it christian".
Ive seen some cutscenes and boy, did they decide to go bonkers with the story. Looks more like a parody with how silly it is and not in a good way.

Managed to spend time playing The New Colossus. All I can say as far as story goes:
Already saw it coming with Caroline getting killed.
Like how they made a playable easter egg of the first Wolfenstein only instead of BJ, you're a Nazi trying to escape Wolfstone.
Much as BJ is a bad ass the game does try to show you BJ isn't invincible as with getting captured by the Nazis after killing his own dad. The execution that occurs right after is something that surprised me since I thought it was gonna be another dream.
Speaking of BJ's execution, I honestly thought the game was doing something akin to jumping the shark or just going balls the wall ridiculous with the fact you get BJ's head on some super secret Nazi body that Caroline apparently acquired. Much as the upgrades for it add some sort of variety (can only pick one), it just felt rather strange seeing how the game goes in the direction of "you get your head chopped off, you get a new body".
Milkshake Nazi is the only good thing about the Nazis. Also like how he has to notice the wanted poster to realize who you are.

Outside of BJ's abusive father, the fact that you get one certain cutscene involving Frau Engle and decapitation can cement the silly part (and I don't mean the parts where she's trying to act like some crazy villainess or manchild) can hit the silly part.

Is he /ourdad/?

The original Muse game here, on the Apple ][. The game was super cool for the time just by having some rudimentary voice shit. Most of the Nazis were really stupid and you could just walk up to them and rob them. It was fun to rob them and then shoot them anyway. Also if you stayed in the same room too long, a nearly indestructible badass SS officer would chase you.

It wasn't technically part of the franchise, as id basically just borrowed the name and ran with it.
