A 23-year-old woman who was mauled to death by a dog in southwest Ireland appears to have been the owner of an XL bully.

The woman, who was named locally as Nicole Morey, was killed on Tuesday evening at a house in Ballyneety, County Limerick, at around 11.40pm.

Her body has been taken to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem. Irish broadcaster RTE said the dog involved in the attack was understood to be an XL bully.

According to her social media, Ms Morey was the loving owner of what appears to be an XL bully.

In one video on TikTok, she is seen dancing with a dog in a kitchen.

The video is covered by a male voice saying: "This is my son and I don't give a f*** if you think he looks aggressive and I don't give a f***if you don't like the look of him and I surely don't give a f*** whether you think the breed should be banned."

Another chilling video appearing to show her as the owner of several dogs is captioned: "But if one of us dies - I hope I die first." The video ends with a caption reading: "Love my family."

In another post, she describes herself as a "dogmom" and is seen handing treats to two dogs.

Ms Morey was treated by paramedics but died at the scene on Tuesday, Garda (Irish police) said. One dog was put down while three others were seized.

There are several restricted breeds in Ireland, including German shepherds, rottweilers and various bull terriers, as well as some crosses.

Restricted dogs must be kept collared with their owner's information on a tag, muzzled in public and on a short, strong lead with someone over the age of 16 who is able to control them.

My dog has been mauled twice by a pitbull, and the third time he was attacked I stabbed that pitbull to death. My relative's Jack russel has been attacked four separate times by pits, requiring surgery for those incidents, and the final incident killed the russel. I was bitten on the nose by a pitbull as a child and required surgery. Fuck you.

I remember the story another kiwi told on the bull megathread. A US soldier had a wife and kids. Raised a blue nose pit from the time it was a puppy. Trained it very well and exercised it. Came home one day to blood everywhere. The pit had killed the child; the mother tried to stop it and ended up dying as well from the pitbull. The husband shot the dog and then shot himself. It's the breed you dumb fuck.

I would say a century of selective genetics against bloodsporting and for an amicable disposition is enough to consider the breed safe. I would not call the modern Boston Terrier a pitbull.

They are definetly pits, just not as retarded or dangerous as the others like the xl bully and definetly arent bred for the pit anymore.

• Dogo Argentino
• Fila Braziliero
• XL Bully, which is banned outright.

All 5 of these dogs were bred for the specific purpose of dog-fighting.
So this woman owned four dogs that were bred specifically for fighting. And they're in a pack together.

Not true at all. Dog fighting has been prominent in the USA up to the 1980s despite the ban on it. Dogfighting pits were being advertised as nanny dogs since 1971 by Lillian Rant despite them still having bloodsport temperament actively selected for. This was to get rid of the litters and still make a profit because enforcement was cracking down harder on dog fighting.

What? Anatomically labrador teeth aren't that different from any other dog, they were bred to be GENTLE in retrieving prey as they were used to bring back birds for their owners. Birds are very fragile so it was beneficial to have a dog smart and docile enough not to crush your dinner between it's jaws. Pit bulls were bred for the opposite purpose, to inflict as much damage as possible. Think about hammers for example; if you had a sentient one, would you prefer to own the one that was talented enough to crack walnuts nicely or the one that will fly at your face and try to smash your teeth in whenever it got triggered?
