Disaster Women Arrested For Snapchat Video Mocking Dying Stroke Victim

Their patient – just off camera – had just suffered a stroke, but three employees of an assisted living facility made a video of themselves cussing, joking that she’s about to die. Now they’re facing possible prison time.

Police say they ignored a critically ill stroke patient who was supposed to be under their care and allegedly took a Snapchat video of that patient mocking her condition with the caption: "The End."

She has since died.

Jefferson Police Detective Jay Parker said officers were summoned on Thursday, June 14, by the executive director of the Bentley Assisted Living at Northminster, in Jefferson. The director, Cynthia Archer, said that one of her employees had reported the Snapchat video to her, and that it had apparently been recorded the night before between 7 and 8 p.m.

The manager said that when she watched the Snapchat video herself, she could identify the three suspects -- Mya Moss, Jorden Bruce and Lizeth Ramirez -- as they sat in the patient's room.

At the time the Snapchat video was taking place, the victim had just had a stroke, according to police. The three employees had been instructed by supervisors to monitor her condition while awaiting a hospice nurse.

In the Snapchat video, Ramirez and Bruce can be seen sitting in chairs laughing, screaming obscenities and using a vape cigarette while Moss was shooting the video.

"They were obviously more interested in playing on the phone and making the video and cutting up and making a joke of the situation," Parker said. "My understanding is that the hospice nurse had been contacted, and these employees were supposed to be watching the female, and obviously that wasn't happening."

All three of the workers have been charged with exploitation and intimidation of disabled adults, which is a felony under Georgia law that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $50,000.

I'm glad that someone on their Snapchat reported this.

:powerlevel:I used to volunteer at nursing homes in highschool years back, and a lot of the residents are the sweetest people in the world. :powerlevel:

I really hope they are doing fine, but it horrifies me to think someone could be treating them like this.

It amazes me how people that are adults still act like middle school children.

Oh and becoming a CNA is really easy.
The class is pretty basic and so are the tests. It doesn't surprise me that some retards make it past.

Usually (hopefully) they don't get too far into the medical field after that.

You would hope generally caring, nurturing, empathetic people would be attracted to such a job working with some of society's most vulnerable. This is what happens when you hire temporary foreign workers over your own citizens and allow such a crucial social service to be run for profit. I'm surprised these workers don't have some kind of training to comfort and support a dying person, even if help cannot come fast enough to save them. A cold cloth on their face, hold their hand? idk

As someone who works with medical professionals, this kinda shit pisses me the hell off.

Imagine if that were your grandma or some such who was mistreated/neglected, you know? Way to live up to your Nightingale's Pledge. They absolutely deserve all the hell coming their way.

The virgin nurse records herself in front of a dying person and gets ass-blasted, whereas the chad Kiwi does the same thing without showing his face, and keeps laughing in impunity.

Step up your game, nurses.

I've mentioned this in a previous post, (slight powerlevel) I used to work at a home healthcare staffing company. Some of the people that passed thru there as nurses and aides were ok, but the amount of human garbage that this company hired was eye opening. And from what I was told at the time, all of the shitheads get passed around from one company to another. I've said it before, if you have to put a loved one into a nursing home, or have them come to their home, do as much research as humanly possible, and check on them frequently (surprise visits etc.)

>critically ill
>hospice nurse

You don't call a hospice nurse for the "critically ill". This patient was straight-up confirmed-and-official nothing-can-be-done dying, so what's the big deal if they weren't paying full attention to it. It's "mean"? Being mean isn't a crime.

Everyone deserves to die with dignity. This woman may have been critically ill and beyond saving, but the entire purpose of hospice care is to ease the suffering of the dying and help them pass away peacefully. Pulling out your cellphone and Snapchatting someone’s dying throes while you mock them is not only the opposite of what hospice care should be, it’s sociopathic.

We have a real problem with how the vulnerable are treated in care facilities and nobody wants to talk about it. It’s just swept under the rug. I think one of the biggest problems is that jobs in these facilities 1) are often extremely draining, difficult, unpleasant work and 2) don’t pay people nearly enough to make it worthwhile. So they end up attracting people who really have no business there as opposed to the competent professionals who should be caring for vulnerable people.

This is awful on so many levels. I hope they get the book thrown at them, considering it’s a felony in the state of Georgia. No one should have to suffer through that, especially when it’s recorded on Snapchat. At least the employees were daft enough to record themselves, though.

Their retardation will be their downfall. They deserve to be made examples of.
