These are for getting ideas for words in your conlangs (if you have any), though you can screw around with them as always.
For starting out with the basics (at least for LanguaGen), subpatterns are for setting a class of phonemes, such as V for vowels, C for consonants, N for nasals, and G for glides/semivowels. While patterns define the shape of syllables, they can be simple as V and CV, the slightly more complex CVN, CGV, and CGVN, or the very complex CCVCC, CCCV, and CVCC.
You can use the International Phonetic Alphabet for getting the sounds that you would want, and then separating them with forward slashes, for example:
C: p/t/k/q/t͡s/f/s/x/h/m/n/ŋ/w/j/r/l
V: a/i/u
N: m/n/ŋ
Would result in the following words (if filtering duplicates was disabled and only 50 words were specified):
amaŋi ihum umu imuxi utarum umiŋ anan un awim ixi wiwu kurawu iqumu pinafa awiha lim puŋaja muxixi ujiŋan ufu t͡siŋ niji ju nari utu qu kitaxu ihum uwa faŋ itim ŋapit͡si fu ulaliŋ hat͡saja lam ujim kixu usum it͡sa xaquhi a iha uŋiqi wifura wi uji uwiwu fi mali
