Words & Phrases DSP Has Invented or Misuses - DSP'isms that make you say "HUUUHN?!?"

Later in the same prestream where he doesn't know what an ampersand is, he seems to not understand the difference between a season pass and a battle pass. He talks about how the upcoming Suicide Squad game supposedly has a battle pass and this causes him to go on a tangent about how he was disappointed by the Arkham Knight DLC. I know Phil hates most battle royale games, but imagine being a vidya streamer in current year and not knowing what a battle pass is.

'Dead to rights'

Phil thinks it means something he should have won but was cheated out of. What it really means is:

  1. INFORMAL
in the act of doing something wrong; red-handed.
"he had me dead to rights, so I meekly suffered the rebuke"

    Ironic, don't you think?
Yeah it's so on the nose with him it almost feels subconscious. He was caught "dead to rights" but he feels he should have gotten away with it lol so he won dead to rights.

He's obviously pronouncing it in Spanish.

You see muchacho, I heard Scarlet/Violet's región is based on Spain and some of Portugal, so that must be it, Felipe Paulo knows.
I remember him doing something similar with hectares.

Living in the US, we don't see the word a whole lot, but Phil should have run into it before, During a playthrough, he just blasted through it confidently as if it's a Spanish loan word. (And to be fair, there is mention of Spanish (Italian, too) just before.)

What was he streaming in that clip? I see Halloween decorations in the background, but that doesn't narrow it down so much.

23 of Feb at 12:11:43 "Everyone says to me 'Phil you watch other content creators' Well no I don't, now actually in the last year, year and a half I started...*lipsmack and 2 second pause* I started to pay attention to my contemporaries"

Contemporary: A person or thing living or existing at the same time as another.

Phil thinks that if you do gameplay streams or videos like him you are his contemporary, I guess it's not technically wrong.

"[...] zombies like headcrab zombies"

From the wiki of both games.

In atomic heart the zombies are symbiosis between a plant sprout and a human corpse. Seeds in the brain stem. Controls motor function. And feeds.

In Half Life headcrabs are a parasitic species, attaching to the host's head and clamping onto their skull using their sharp beak. After breaking through the skull, the Headcrab proceeds to take over its host's motor functions through some unknown biological process, keeping its host alive but helpless through the entire process.

He was comparing the zombies in atomic heart to the ones in half life and he's not entirely wrong unfortunately. They do share some simalrites.

Broken clocks and all that. He spouts so much ignorant shit that he is bound to be right occasionally through sheer brute force.

Yeah he's not wrong there but he extrapolated that into saying that Atomic Heart is just a poor man's Half Life 2 clone... it reminds me of the time when he said that Cyberpunk 2077 ripped off Doom 2016 because the lighting in the stage where you fight Oda is similar to the lighting in Doom.
