Before reading the comment he may or may not have written himself, Phil said he would read the comment "Verbated" instead of the extremely common and often used "verbatim." He said it twice so you know that's what he thinks the word is.

Edit: He may have said "Verbeta" but it's hard to tell with his mushmouth.

This was from a WPIG episode about DSP's Employment history part two six months ago and he LET slip that he was pressured into marrying soulmaid "We were pressured a bit to do it." So, he ORIGINALLY had no plans on marrying soulmaid, he was pressured into marrying her!

You can hear Phil mention he was pressured into marrying Khat at 2:14:18

And this gem! "The real reason I went to Connecticut was I knew that was going to be the last time I was going to see one of them in person."

Prepare to die soon...well, one of them!

I think it's pretty clear from this segment that DSP has no idea what "street smarts" actually means. Just sounds like he thinks it's some higher level of smarts?

There's plenty of practical 'street smart's a developer or software engineer could have (best practices, knowing common pitfalls, quick turnaround, debugging skills...), but 'consider how this impacts DSP' isn't one of them.

He thinks it means common sense when it actually means things like knowing how to score drugs or how to avoid getting into a knife fight with a tweaker.

Well, I wouldn't go that far, I guess you can stretch the metaphor to other areas, but the equivalent of street smarts in a youtube team lead isn't at all aligned with what DSP would want. If you go to a dollar store or pawnshop, do you really want the owner to have "street smarts" so that they can screw you over better?

But yeah, in his mind it just means 'common sense' or some kind of super intelligence.

Street smarts is more like cunning and resourceful. Knowing how to get the most out of something with limited resources. Being creative with what you have to achieve results that the book smarts achieve through a structured learning process.

It's just another way of him saying he's better than all of these people who are richer or more successful. He was valedictorian so he has book smarts, and he had to tough it out against Connecticut gangs like the Mean Street Posse so he has street smarts. Everyone else, all the way up to Musk or Gates, who isn't Phil is either an idiot or soft.
