Words & Phrases DSP Has Invented or Misuses - DSP'isms that make you say "HUUUHN?!?"

D$P's New Britain glottal stop while otherwise trying so hard to appear to have such an above average intellect** using words such as 'behoove'* boggles my mind and drives me to distraction. Ms. Morgenstern from an article in The New York Times attributed this sound to New Britain's large Polish-American population. "The New Britain accent is much more distinctive, even in the way residents pronounce the name of their city: "New Breh-EN." They don't enunciate their consonants as much," she said. "The funny thing is, you go into the next town, and you don't hear it,". Though he is from Bridgeport which has a different speech pattern it could be due to his polish background as according to the speech pathologist New Britain residents have this distinct way of speaking that can be traced to the Polish immigrants who settled there beginning mostly in the late 19th century. Then again...

"Another strong influence on speech patterns is education, Ms. Morgenstern said. "You won't find such accents as much with an educated population," she said. "They're more cognizant of the way they speak."
Consequently, the New York accent doesn't extend too far into Connecticut before losing its influence.
"It doesn't usually extend into wealthy pockets like Greenwich, Darien or New Canaan," Ms. Gomola said. "It can wiggle around the tracks, because that's where the poorer pockets are, even as far as Bridgeport.""
Sidenote I found amusing:
*"In my household growing up we watched William F. Buckley Jr. on 'Firing Line,' and to me, that was the Connecticut accent," said Kirk Varner, the news director at Channel 8 in New Haven, who grew up in South Carolina. "The sense was that people in Connecticut spoke in a much more precise kind of way, almost like they were trying to sound erudite, even if they were not."

I’m gonna try adopt Dark’s strange and flagrantly overexaggerated speech.

I woke up a while ago and had to eat because I was straight up MALNOURISHED. I finally came to after being UNCONSCIOUS all night and am currently going through caffeine WITHDRAWAL. The coffee I brewed was SWELTERING but it was nice because the weather out is ARCTIC, I think it’s like 29 degrees Fahrenheit! Anyway, I was sitting with my legs crossed and now they’re BROKEN.

I’m just reminded of when DSP said Washington was being hit with a HEATWAVE this past summer... and it was a whole 74 degrees in Renton. I never in a million years thought I would meet someone who feels the need to lie about the dumbest shit, even things that can be easily confirmed like the weather.

 Oh yeah, 'Heatwave' is a good one dood, hasn't been mentioned yet.
'Heatwave' = When it's in the mid 70's to low 80's outside on the Farenheit temperature scale, or 23º to 29º Celsius.

In his Skyrim playthrough, he repeatedly pronounced smithing as "smything".

Also in his playthrough of the Witcher 3, he pronounces trebuchet as "trebu-kit".

He pronounces falchion as fall-key-ahn
Why is he pronouncing the 'ch' sound as a 'k' by default? I guess that must be something our valedictorian learned in school

i can forgive falchion... i thought it was said that way too when i first saw it

but trebuchet, phil said he learned latin in elementary and he can understand any language
he should see the word and realize it's french, and by understanding that, he can figure out how to say it

I give him a pass on falchion because there are maybe 4 different ways I've heard it pronounced. Its not common for people to say so unlikely for people to pick up the correct pronunciation or someone correcting the other

Had a new one last night. "Armchair Quarterbacks". This is a term used to describe NFL fans who watch TV and get mad when their team does a stupid play and thinks they could have done better if they were calling the plays.

I get why he used the phrase, but since Phil has stated several times that he does not watch or care about sports, it's kind of odd.

He pronounces bombadier as "bom-bodee-aye" like it was French or something
bombaRdier is french

but here's the crux
you say it (almost) the same in french as you do in english

and i've never heard ANYONE... ANYONE say it the way phil has
has phil never heard anyone say half of the words in this thread before?
or is he forgetting from lack of use?
i'd love to hear him say words like amplifier, and financier.
