Work sucks. Post times where work doesn't suck here.
Thanks to @Surtur and the latest incarnation of their Retail Horrors thread - it made a boring day better, and special mention to @littlebiscuits whose posts are a special delight.

I got laid off from a job that fit me like a glove back in August. Company was great but they just had to trim fat. Sucks but I get it.
My bounceback job was good at first until I realized my direct manager only knew how to push paper and didn't know thing one about leading people. When she told me flat out one day that I'd be doing the job of two people by myself without any notice at all, and that it could happen more or less at the whims of the higher-ups, I decided it wasn't worth the seven dollar an hour pay cut I'd taken and told her to get fucked.
Less than a month later I landed in a call center for a medical group and it really isn't bad. I'm shit at talking to people all day but we don't handle the soul-crushing billing calls and people actually seem to give a fuck about one another. There's opportunity to learn and move up too so I don't need to worry about being stuck answering phones for the next five years. My boss leaves me alone to do my work and doesn't give me shit about taking time off when I need it and all of that is good enough for me so at the end of the day I'll call that a victory.
Sometimes when you're a curmudgeon who sees thirty plus years of misery in every setback it's nice to be reminded that sometimes things really aren't all that bad.
