I personally love jogging with cast recordings to musicals. The dance numbers interspersed with ballads are pretty great for encouraging fartlek training.

In the gym I frequent, the trainers set the music, and it's usually some generic house music podcasts or bullshit American alternative rock from the mid-2000s (one of the trainer girls is really into this genre apparently). There was the time when a DJ from some nearby club played his sets as a promotion, and it was either some drum and bass or gabber. MylarBalloonFan would have loved him.
Personally, the best kinds of music for working out for me are either techno stuff like The Prodigy:
Or, oddly enough, trance music like the tracks from Armin Van Buuren's ASoT podcasts. It puts me in the zone quite easily, even though my dad can't stand it.
