@LetterlandMafia gave a good answer to that, I'd also add while Salah has certainly made Egypt's chances greater, the group they're in should also keep them from shitting the bed too much. Russia showed some improvement today, sure, but the last time they were a truly great team was when the Soviet Union was still a thing and even then they never won anything. That's why I find Egypt has a greater chance of getting out of their group with Salah's help, though the moment they meet one of the bigger teams (let's say Brazil or Germany or Belgium), it's over for them, Salah or not. It's kinda similar to the situation Argentina is in, Messi is carrying the entire team and their road to getting to the WC almost didn't happen. Is Salah really that good? Outside of Liverpool getting to the UEFA final I haven't heard much about him.
Could happen, sure. Neither team made it past the groups in Brazil. I'm just not sure if Iran or Morocco are really strong enough to challenge even a messy Spain and a Portugal, that imo, actually does fairly poorly with Ronaldo.I actually think one of Portugal or Spain will fail to advance. Their groupmates are poor, but Spain have been shaky lately and have sacked their manager, and Ronaldo can't keep carrying Portugal forever (yes I know they won Euro 2016 but Ronaldo dragged them to the final and the victory over France was a huge shock). There's always shocks at the WC
