Spain 3 - 3 Portugal

Best match all day, but Ronaldo was pretty much carrying Portugal- whereas Spain just kicked ads. Too bad Iran is on top of Group B, due to a fucking own goal... UGH.

I guess it's something different, but still.

Enjoy it while it lasts. The odds Iran stands a chance against Portugal or Spain, especially after that type of play, is slim to none.
Christiano Ronaldo= G.O.A.T
He'll need to carry Portugal through the final first.

Four games tomorrow:
France-Australia
Argentina-Iceland
Peru-Denmark
Croatia-Nigeria

What are your predictions? I'm kinda hoping for a cheeky Australia win, but realistically they can hope for a tie at best. Second match should be a no-brainer, as long as the Argetinian team actually lets Messi have his chances, they're completely dependent on him. Not seeing a lot of hope for Peru, Denmark is a fairly solid team (at least against them). Nigeria can put up a good fight against Croatia, but still see the latter winning.

I agree with pretty much every prediction of yours, except I have a feeling that the Argentina- Iceland match might be pretty interesting. After all, Iceland did get to (semi finals)* in the 2016 EUFA Cup.

EDIT: My mistake I meant to say Quarter Finals.

Nah... Iran and especially Morocco are done after Spain and Portugal get points off them both that they (ESP and POR) failed to take away from each other in their own game.

That's only because they played England

Australia equalise against France after French player Umtiti handballs in the penalty area in a fit of extreme exceptionality.

Argentina - Iceland is now underway. Personally I'm rooting for the underdogs, even though it's very :optimistic:

EDIT: Second half will soon begin, it's 1-1. Icelanders have been very good so far.

EDIT 2: It's a draw after all. Great game from Iceland, they definitely weren't pushovers today. Messi helped them by having shit accuracy, though.

Impressed Iceland managed to pull a draw with Argentina (mind you, they've been a mess for a while now, but still). Their FA has done wonders.

Peru-Denmark half time, 0-0. No idea how Peru was given a penalty, didn't seem like there was much contact at all. And considering the ref didn't even give a whistle for it when it happened and he was asked to check VAR, it's even more puzzling.

Denmark wins 1-0. Schmeichel was great for them, damn good saves. Peru had some really dangerous moments there and I'm glad they played so well.

This.

The commentators on the BBC seemed to have a wide-on for so-called "beautiful" football, seeing stuff with lots of passes and tiki-taka to be somehow morally superior to getting shit done and I felt there was an undercurrent of scorn at the Danes for parking the bus as they did in the latter stages of the game, even though it was the tactically best thing to do at that time and in the context of the game.

Croatia wins 2-0 against Nigeria. Croatia didn't really play that strongly, but it was enough and Nigeria didn't pose much of a threat to the Croatian goalie. Also, we apparently had 5 penalties today.

Tomorrow's games:
Costa Rica-Serbia
Germany-Mexico
Brazil-Switzerland

First game will be interesting, I'd say they're really evenly matched and you'll never know what to expect from them. Germany-Mexico is the one I've been waiting for since I'm supporting the former. My ass is already clenched and I hope they got all their tactics in place. Mexico lost to the German B-side 4-1 during the Confederation Cups, so though I'm not expecting a blowout, Germany will probably get a good win. Brazil has been strong ever since they changed coaches so the last game will be a fun one to watch as well. Switzerland isn't the strongest side, but if they have a plan set in place, they'll fight tooth and nail to stop Brazil's attack.
Selfishly, I'm hoping both Germany and Brazil top their groups since that means they won't meet until the finals, if all goes well ofc

Argentina 1 - 1 Iceland
Now THIS is what I like seeing - proper goals from BOTH sides and no cheap penalties - in your face, Messi. Better luck next time. Definitely the BEST game here, IMHO.

Peru 0 - 1 Denmark
Peru played so well, but in the end, Denmark clearly got smart - plus, thanks to their lack of knowing how to penalty kick (as shown by that facepalm-inducing fail of an opportunity in the 1st half), Peru paid dearly for letting their guard down by the 2nd half. The better team won here.

France 2 - 1 Australia
There was never any doubt here on how this would go at all - just a bunch of penalties and an actual proper goal from someone who's actually in it to win (e.g.: France).

Croatia 2 - o Nigeria
Croatia is one team I'd like to see make it past group stage, so this is a good result for them. Too bad they're up against much tougher teams next time... Thanks for coming, Nigeria; nice kits. Take care getting home soon.

Germany is like I watch very good tax accountant. He may be best at his job, but he is just crunching numbers.

Mexico is like crazy prostitute. Now she is fun!

Saddly I am watching world cup in US. American announcing teams are garbage. It does not surprise me Americans do not like this sport.

Germany vs. Mexico at 4.00 pm. I might watch that one. The accountants and defending champions against the crazy prostitute.

Anyhow. Tomorrow, England, sorry, ENGERLUND, goes into play against Tunisia. What so we think will happen, boys and girls?

I'm thinking an England win, probably punctured by an absolutely exceptional mistake by one of the overpaid manchildren who makes up our team that results in it only just being a win, or worse, a draw. Said overpaid manchildren will probably only put in a bare minimum of effort because they aren't getting £150,000 a week for this like they do when they play for their Premiership sides.

The fact that our captain is Wayne "Scouse Granny Shagger" Rooney, a grossly overpaid manchild who would probably be in prison if he wasn't good at football, says a lot.

Another reason is we Americans don't have proper training camps dedicated to the craft to foster actual talent for it. It's just BS like MLS. Anything England (at the very least) does >>>>> Anything US-related in the craft, and THAT's truth.
