Dude, you forgot to include the Spain-Morocco match.
Nah - I talked about both in that one paragraph. Honestly, I didn't have that much to say about the Spaniards, other than feeling let down they didn't kick Morocco's butts out harder.
As for yesterday's fare...
France 0 - 0 Denmark
Didn't pay too much attention to this one - save for watching highlights... Doesn't take too much effort to see that these two were gonna dominate their group (France winning, Denmark being runner-up.); I'm just let down that this wasn't as interesting as it could have been, y'know?
Nigeria 1 - 2 Argentina
Messi came through (for the first one, anyway) - and the rest followed suit. Nigeria's top player did not. That's all there is to this, really - that, and waving goodbye to Nigeria (which sucks, but they never had much of a chance.). At least the better team (Croatia) won this group... Yeah - I don't see Argentina going too far after this, especially with how this could have gone either way for them, especially without their star - glad the rest of the team is slowly getting their shit together, so there's some hope for them yet, if how they broke this time without Messi doing it is any indication.
Croatia 2 - 1 Iceland
Now here's another match that could have gone either way - and is much better than ARG-NIG for it, as well.
The better team ultimately won out (along with clinching the group, too.), so much that I could see them going farther than Knockouts, but not winning the cup. Croatia should still go farther than Argentina is likely to, anyway, IMHO.
Peru 2 - 0 Australia
At least Peru goes home with some sense of fulfillment - to be fair, however: Australia has never truly been that good at this craft, unlike how they are at rugby. So, the weakest link to COMNEBOL here is out of it, now. I hope Columbia & Uruguay can last longer, just for the sake of something interesting to happen - and to teach Argentina not to rely on one player to guide them to victory; good luck outlasting Brazil, though (that'll be a challenge and-a-half!).
