Just how dirty is the England Belgium game seeing as neither want to score and fair-play points will essentially decide the outcome?

Well, Belgium are ahead by 1-0, so clearly they care enough.

EDIT: I turned off that game after Belgium scored because I knew it would be a snoozefest. ENGERLUND's seconds can't beat Belgium's seconds. This means nothing.

I foresee ENGERLUND beating Columbia by a squeaky margin - i.e. winning goal in injury time or even extra time, then going out to France in the quarters on penalties.

Well, we are officially done with the group stages. We'll continue with the R16 on Saturday with two games:
France-Argentina
Uruguay-Portugal

Honestly, probably the most exciting matches in the R16. Argentina showed creat improvement in their last game, but there is no quarantee at all of them keeping that up. France is stronger, but really hasn't been too noteworthy otherwise, even managing to give us a proper snoozefest during their game with Denmark. Can easily go either way if Argentina can keep their shit together.

Second game is exciting. Uruguay has been pretty good this cup, but they got seeded into the easiest group. No telling if they can show up to their first proper strong team. Portugal has been 50/50. They can give a great performance with a TSUUU banger, or they can be utterly mediocre with even Ronaldo forgetting he's actually on the pitch playing. I figure most would give the edge to Portugal, but I'm hoping for Uruguay to give them an upset.

you know, there is no rule saying a dog can't play soccer

Argies don't deserve to get further given that they only managed to squeak through by the other games falling their way. More by luck than judgement. Hopefully France will stomp them.

As for the other game, I might watch that. With a bit of luck Suarez will either attempt to eat Ronaldo or professional-foul him in a hilarious manner and get sent off.

IDK man, Brazil-Mexico and Sweden-Switzerland look pretty exciting too. As for Uruguay, beyond Suarez and Cavani they don't really have many standout players, and I wouldn't put them on the same level as Ronaldo.

I've finally caught what's left of these games, due to having to work late yesterday (seriously, fuck Summer sometimes! Fuck it hard!!), which was total fucking BS, and this is all I have to say about any of them...

Japan 0 - 1 Poland
It's only by having more goals to their name that Japan is in Knockouts, now. Damn shame; I was hoping they'd knock Poland out of this tourney with style. Instead, it was just difficult staying awake to any of this - furthermore, seeing Japan lose like that: they're NOT making it through knockouts. At all.

Senegal 0 - 1 Columbia
On the plus side, I'm glad Columbia (the better team here, despite both being competent enough) prevailed here. I could see them going past Knockouts, unlike Senegal, despite how this match could have gone either way. Much more entertaining that whatever Japan was doing here.

Belgium 1 - 0 England
Not surprised this match wasn't very interesting. It's clear BOTH teams knew they had it on lock and were only testing each other. Of course, Belgium - having the more youthful and talented of the bunch, have passed this so-called test that was a rather boring match. Regardless, I can see BOTH teams going farther than Knockouts, but Belgium is the clear favorite of mine to take it home, now. I can see this England squad getting to Semi-Finals, if I were to be nice about it; that's it.

As for my thoughts on the last 2 match-ups for Round of 16...

Belgium - Japan --> Belgium WINS - no. More like... Belgium OWNS; no questions asked; GAME OVER, dear Samurai Blue - back to anime-land with you. And, while you're at it, hold your heads in shame for losing to Poland like you did for just a little longer, please & thank you.

Columbia - England --> I'd like to see Columbia win this, just to keep things interesting, but England is clearly gonna get by at the end, judging by their talent (despite a lack of legit youth to really carry them) on their side here.

Oh, am I forgetting something? Panama - Tunisia?? Well... Thanks for coming and don't let the summer heat in your respective homelands get to you, OK?

Yeah, I'm double-posting. No, I feel it's for the best... Here's (one way of) how I would like the rest of this tourney to go...

Hmm, probably accurate. However I can't seen ENGERLUND in the final. They've not been playing like a finalist side and there's too big a talent gulf between their first and second line players. If they could play Walker, Stones, Trippier, Alli, Kane, and Sterling in every game then maybe but other than TAA and Rashford their second-liners aren't quite up to it. I think they'll squeak past Colombia, and then find themselves unable to get through a Swedish bus-parking session and go out on penalties. I can't see Spain beating Croatia and I think the final will be Belgium vs. Croatia, with Belgium to win.

TBH, a Croatia vs. Belgium final - God willing, I would watch THAT in a heartbeat.

The most exciting matches are today, and I'm stuck in the countryside with no TV :c
Oh well. Unlike Euro 2016, I won't miss the final this time.

Press F for Messi.
I'd say better luck next time, but I doubt there will be one.

Argentinian fans are so retarded. I'm not Argentinian myself but I was hoping for them to win so that Argie fans could shut up and stop shitting all over their NT for once. I genuinely like Messi, he's the only "top" player I like (I hate Penaldo and Nerman), and hate how much pressure they put on him.

I can't press F hard enough.
