I am just glad the fans of two overhyped chokers will now be crying sweet, sweet salty tears.
But really, happy Uruguay made it. They showed a lot of spark against a tough team. Their next game against France will be a sight. France's defense is shaky and Uruguay can take advantage of that.

You've got to admit Ronaldo had some excellent goals, especially in the match with Spain. I'm kinda disappointed this will probably be his last World Cup though.

Tomorrow's games:
Spain-Russia
Croatia-Denmark
Now, ususally I'd have little hope for Russia at this point, but de Gea is incredibly hit or miss as a goalie. If Spain can hold a strong defence throughout the entire game, they'll have it in the bag. If they let the Russians slip through, it can become difficult for them. We'll have to see how they face their biggest issue tomorrow.
I have a sneaking suspicion Denmark is going to park the bus hard and let Croatia get ~70+% posession. They got through to the finals on two ties so I'm not sure what their gameplan really is. They need to score (unless their plan truly is to try for penalties), but Croatia has showed a really strong and solid side this cup. Going to have to give the game to the Croats.

If the 2nd half alone is any indication, Portugal could have come back from this, since URU bunkered down aplenty, despite taking the lead so early on themselves. Don't get me wrong, though - it was a good fight and I'm happy POR is out of it, now (glad to know one of my predictions came true). Honestly, URU won't make it past quarterfinals, however, but it was a damn good run for them, IMHO - better than what I'm used to seeing out of them, anyway...
Argentina 3 - 4 France
As I predicted, the better team prevailed here. I may not like France, myself; still, it's better the team with actual talent and teamwork on their side go through than a team only really relying on 1 player to guide them to victory - and that's TRUTH, if not FACT. Same story in Portugal's case, even if URU isn't as good as say, France, for example.
I'm looking forward to Spain crushing Russia and showing everyone who's to be legit feared around here. I'm rooting for Croatia to top Denmark and further make my dream predictions a happy reality.

Spain - Russia: The first half of extra time is almost over. It's 1-1, and judging by how both teams play, it'll likely end with a penalty shootout. Unless Russia fucks up, of course.

This result was one hell of a letdown. Russia got lucky with their brick wall defense. Simple as that - Spain should have wiped the floor with Vladimir's cronies, honestly. Farewell, Spaniards; maybe next time, even if I ain't your biggest fan, you were robbed here. Robbed as all get out.
Here's hoping Croatia's game goes better - that's one team I'd like to see advance besides Uruguay (just to keep things interesting around here, of course.), honestly.
