There might be some flooding at the Jax beaches but everyone out there has sandbags ready. One does not simply live on the Florida coast without knowing these things.

Really it's just an excuse to make a Publix run for tendies and a hurricane cake (picrel) dd572cef422f0158d5e2bab1d3db8e71.jpg

MEGA HURRICANE Laura will SMASH Mississippi and Alabama with NO SURVIVORS. The US will never recover, the it's over. CNN analysists have told me that Trump will not stop this hurricane and is therefore a bad president. Millions of people will DIE because Trump denies science

Don't forget Haiti and Cuba. In the case of Haiti, it's already a shit place. Is Hurricane Laura will be Cuba's Chernobyl?

Category 1 and a tropical storm? Weak shit, only matters if it stalls over land like Hurricane Harvey did and drops a biblical amount of rain.

TS Marco’s track changed. Looks like it’s going to hit the Louisiana coast followed closely by Laura, so flooding and surge will probably be an issue.

This is pretty much the end for the United States as a major food producer. Expect huge famines this winter, food prices skyrocket, and by next year there will be a military coup or revolution.

Laura expected to become a Cat 4 hurricane. This is official “shit your pants” category.

fuck thats impressive, i was saying the metorologists were jewing up the stats and thats why we got a whole lot of technical hurricanes recently, and that this might be the once in a decade thing where we have no major hurricanes, on the plus side it managed to not hit anywhere people care about. Vidor, TX will be fucked, but outside of white supremacists who cares

I think the bright side to this is how quick it is, compared to Harvey's Noah-like flooding. Didn't slightly eroded the crust of the earth there?

For posterity's sake, Laura actually came dangerously close to hitting Category 5 criteria just before landfall. Most official sources quote it as having reached 150 mph sustained winds at the time that the eye was just about to touch the coast.

Unofficially, some measurements clocked it as having reached 155 mph just before landfall – for all practical purposes just barely pushing it into Cat 5 at some point.

Pretty impressive if she moves across the continent before hitting the Atlantic for a second round.
That's also noting that she's expected to strengthen back into tropical storm once she moves back out over the Atlantic.

Laura's got a hell of a lot of kick to her despite weakening so quickly on landfall.

Five named storms are currently in the Atlantic/Gulf.

Hurricane Sally is expected to hit Mississippi as a Cat 2 tomorrow and stall out bringing massive amounts of rain to the central Gulf coast.

This is 2020, bitch. We already had Fire-Nados this year.

I'm expecting Shark-i-canes at the very least. Maybe some UFOs mixed in with the hurricane too.

Hurricane Sally fucked my shit up for a week. No power or internet for that time, the area almost turned into a utopia. Thankfully the internet has returned and the madness has returned alongside it.
