World of Warcraft Rank 1 Player Reckful Commits Suicide

Ouch! Friends let me make a humble request. If you do at any point feel the need to An Hero yourself. Please do so in a way that is neat and considerate of the poor souls that have to find and clean up the mess. Just please avoid leaping off high places onto concrete. Or even worse busy highways. If you feel the need to jump off something, find a bloody bridge over water. It’s more environmentally friendly. Suicide is an inherently selfish act, but doing so in a way that leaves a huge mess that needs to be cleaned up by people getting paid way to little to be dealing with your area effect splash damage is among the worlds biggest dick moves. Don’t Do It!
Keep in mind that divers have to recover your corpse if you an hero off of a bridge. If you've ever seen that one tub soup picture - a razor blade suicide in a filled bathtub that wasn't found until she began to liquefy - then you know what being submerged will do to an decomposing body. Don't be the asshole that makes a diver have to get up close and personal with that. Water also does a lot of trauma when fallen into from a considerable height. IIRC Etika had severe head trauma from impact with the water.

No method of suicide is clean. Blowing your brains out with a shotgun is a very messy affair but so is a sleeping pill overdose that goes unnoticed for a few weeks.
Talk about your problems instead of making the guy who earns $10.50/hr pressure wash what remains of you off the sidewalk.

I've talked to people with bipolar and it's usually the men that say it's hard for them to speak up about it since they need to hold the guise of being strong. One said that it only increase the mental suffering and silent screaming he suffers making it harder.

If anyone you know is no longer suffering in silence- no matter how normal they want to be treated- reach out to them. This study may be out of date, but people with bipolar are much more likely to commit suicide than those with major depressive disorder.

I hope his family is doing alright and my condolences for the loss of this legend of WoW history.
Thanks. Men deserve good mental health care and not to be shut or shunned about it. Sometimes they express themselves differently about it but as long as they don't hurt anyone (including themselves) while doing it, its a very good thing.

Look out for your homies, fam. :heart-full:

Cmon chaps, the important moral question here is whether or not there is going to be some big funeral/memorial event on a PVP server

Because If so, I think its high time for a beloved old warcraft tradition to make a triumphant comeback...

EDIT: Aaaaaaaaand I just realised how you could epix trullz a non PVP server funeral for the guy.

Have a whole bunch of people show up to the event and then kill themselves by jumping off their flying mounts from high up at the centre of proceedings

Pretty much all of Reckful's in-game funeral services (usually at the Stormwind Cathedral) have become explosive player-versus-player boneyards. As expected, funeral-goers are sincerely dumbfounded that combative individuals play a game called World of Warcraft.

What is this retard doing? Why would you volunteer to trade your life to prevent the suicide of a total stranger that you admit wasn't even a friend? Are they trying to seem heroic and selfless, or are they actually suicidal?

I hope Cr1tikaL is next to go.

No, DSP should be next.

I have a schizo friend who talks about suicide a lot. I tell him "do it faggot, don't be a bitch." Then we discuss amusing ways he can off himself before wandering off onto other topics.

I am a good friend. Seriously. That gets him in a better frame of mind. Bloo blooing about "life is magical and you have so much to offer" doesn't help. It juat makes the prick spouting platitudes feel better after being upset by the suicidal person.

Some people just need a reset. Some people want to talk frankly about their problems. Everyone is different.

But NOBODY benefits from essentially being told to shut up. "We care about you" is telling, not showing, and what's bad in writing is bad in real life. "Stop being toxic" shows that you regard a friend in need as an irritation. "You have so much to live for" tripe is dismissive. Some people's lives really are shit and unfixable.

I hope I'm not soapboxing too much. This shit really pisses me off. If you actually care about and like someone, you will seek their company because it pleases you to interact with them. Having friends who seek you out because they like you makes life seem worth not skipping. Nobody wants "friends" who look on you as a project, and spending time with you as a chore or grind.

Social media really exacerbates this by making it so easy for people with very little real affinity for you to puff themselves up playing at being friends with you. It's fucking sick.
It's actually a funny thing, how you saying those platitudes can make things worse.

What the person you are speaking with hears then is 'Life is going on great for ME, and I find it wonderful. But for you, it all seems to be a horrible twisted reality with no hope left'.

Saying that life is worth living cannot register within those people's brain, since the things they've experienced in recent times can be more or less described as excruciating pain of existence.

As for Reckfull, I'm not overtly attached, but I was a bit shocked by the news. But even more shocked is the LSF community and the likes.

If you're depressed, try Cognitive behavioural therapy. Here's a good book on it:

Antidepressants are a scam and they will only fuck up your body. Watch this (as the guy says at the start, some of the content inside is hard-hitting):

crashing ingame funerals has a long tradition in wow dating back all the way to the serenity now thing

That's really sad. Hope his ex has a good support system so she doesn't fall into a mental hole of blaming herself (or believing internet randos who already blame her).

Don't know this guy enough to know what if any treatment he was getting, aside from playing with psychedelics, which can induce psychosis in people with mental disorders. If he was getting treatment or at least had some in-person social connections, then 'Rona undoubtedly disrupted that.

What a sad thing to read. I'm not sure why this is Kiwi Farm news.

I don't find this funny.
i think its because of the response
see:
The reaction to his death has been.... well I don't know what I expected.
  • 'We just need to force more positivity, ban all negativity'
  • 'Just shout down people that disagree with you if you think they are toxic'
  • *uses death to attempt to start a conservation on why this is all actually about racism*
  • 'People just need to be better; No social media isn't the problem'
All these 'solutions' to prevent more suicides I am hearing are just going to drive more people to suicide in the long term.

ironically. banning opinions, banning negativity, etc. forces people to bottle it up causes them to feel outcasted and alone. the feeling of being truly alone is terrifying.

if you ban all "mean things" and only allow "positive vibes yall" shit like this will happen. the streaming community is fucked.

and for fucks sake stop using the mans suicide to virtue signal.

It sounds wonderful.

But you'll be outdone when the event turns into a BLM protest.
