World of Warcraft

I'll go a step further

There is no trans representation in WoW. A magical dragon or magical arbiter changing gender with 0 consequences isn't real. For people in reality - it's a major fucking decision that has massive consequences even for the "right people".

There's a huge money cost, a gigantic time cost, a huge health cost, a gigantic social cost - both small and large scale. The people who tell you it's a good idea might not have your actual best interest at heart and if you change your mind your entire (new) social support system entirely evaporates. The choice is irreversible and often doesn't "fix" whatever problem you were trying to fix.

None of this is represented in WoW and WoW quite simply isn't the game to address it in. It isn't just bad writing, it's just borderline inappropriate with how the game handles NPCs (as in they are mostly very minor) and the setting it's in (constant, never ending world-scale devestation with no rest periods).
You know, I've been thinking about this, and not only are you right, Blizzard actually seems to have gone out of their way to find the one way to make transexuallity in their game fucking meaningless. The only people in their game who claim transexuality, are the races who it is absolutely meaningless too. I have to believe this is intentional, because it damn sure is when I do it.

Slight powerlevel, I've been accused of being a fairly progressive writer, because on of my favorite characters to use is canonically genderfluid, by my own admission. Here's the rub, they're genderfluid, because they're a doppleganger. They change gender more than some people change shoes, and frankly, don't remember what gender they were born as, and it doesn't matter, since, unlike trans people, when they change, they are biologically a male or female. This wasn't done by me to court the audiences, but it was done because it makes logical sense in the world (a race that changes gender would have a different view on gender), and is the only way anyone should write the word 'genderfluid'.

I bring that up because if I were to call that character transexual, it would be an outright slap in the face, seeing as gender means as much to them as age does to your average Smash competitve player. So, to call Chromie, a character who could, at any given time, turn her visage into whatever she damn well pleased, a transexual is fully Bliz wanting to eat their cake and have it too.

They could've picked any race for their trannies. Hell, the Sethrek would've been *perfect* for that, due to their single gendered bodies, presenting an excuse for a young snek to get their brain all fucked up. Hell, Naga would also be a great one, due to how massive the dimorphism is. It's not like a gnome or a lizard, where the difference is minimal. A male naga is the size of a small bus, and about as solidly built, and the females are just elves with snake tails. Imagine how interesting a MTF trans naga (written well, of course) could be, actually dipping into the mental anguish of how obvious it is. But that's the problem with these performative characters: They have to pretend being trans is the greatest shit ever, and not a never ending waking nightmare, where just the act of breathing reminds you that your brain is fundamentally fucked. Might have people asking about that percentage they hate talking about. Of course the other problem with them is they've fucked it up for actually interesting characters, because it doesn't matter how well thought out a character is now, people are so fucking sick of inclusion, they see brown skin or hear trans, and instantly stop listening, because for every Ladiva, there's twenty Chromies. For every Barret Wallace, there's twenty Jax MK11 endings.

Honestly, the absolute pinpoint precision on them fucking up trans characters makes me wonder how intentional it was. Between this and the allegations (I mean, we all saw the Cosby picture), I can't help but wonder how much of this bullshit is on the dev team, vs higher ups telling them they need to inject faggotry into the game, or else. Male feminists are indeed a bunch of rapists and kid fuckers, but they're rarely frat boys. I'll always be a bit more forgiving to the grunts in the code mines, because they can make works of absolute genius, but if a bean counter or a danger hair tells them to do something, they don't have much choice other than leaving.

world chat sperged about trannies and "Lynnrielle" wrote that men are pathetic when they can't accept trannies.

So I wrote this in hope they switch topics

In my own co inky of a dink. Some girl in the Newcomer guild chat on Turtle WoW was talking a lot about being a girl on the internet. I responded with a pithy "ok tranny" and got a similar mute and chat ban. Wasn't perma'd though.
idk what their issue is. The tanks are trash too on that server. Is it worth trying to get unbanned? I would like to get enough people together for raiding.

Apparently Nyctermoon is being hit by ddos attacks. Haven't played in a month or so and logged in to find 2x 36 slot bags in my mail as an apology for any rollbacks due to it. Sweet lol.

How's the expac for casuals who don't want to poopsock mythic+ or whatever? I'm interested in it for the dungeons and raids but I don't have the time to raid on a schedule or stay up on the meta beyond slowly progressing at my own pace.

Isn't that what WoW is nowadays? I'd be amazed if they actually changed the, uh, 'formula'. The fact that xpac discussion has already died down says a lot.

We’re they Night Elves? Trannies flock Night Elves and blood elves like flies on shit. They’re also have the most insufferable players in retail, classic, and private servers.

Some in my WOTLK classic guild have been raving about how amazing the artwork in Dragonflight is and since half of them just mash keys and hope dps/threat happens, I want whatever the hell they’re smoking (pretty sure at least one is a troon as never speaks, pronouns in the bio and we have a metric ton of true and honest females who talk to each other).

I haven’t bought it and I’m probably part of the target market as I resent it being shoved in everyone’s face. I’m still salty about the body types and women-into-fruit thing.

What's there to talk about? We're in pre season and the pozzed story isn't worth taking about for another 4 pages.

There's no borrowed power system so it's going to be a lot easier if you just want to pug shit once or twice a month. There's still a lot of rep and dailies but they only matter if you want mog for your dragon or crafting recipes or whatever.
How are Warlocks? Specifically Affliction since Blizz has only ruined that one a little.
Worst of the 3 by a significant margin but that's mostly because Destro and Demo got everything they wanted (unless you wanted MoP demo back I guess).

Since I mentioned crafting that got a huge rework and is almost actually interesting for the first time in WoW history. I don't think parts of it exactly function but I think if they paid attention and iterated on it (fat chance this is Blizzard) it could actually be something worth doing more then 1 patch out of 5 until you unlocked [Big Sword] that you just replaced in mythic anyway.

How are Destro and Demo? Honestly I dont care if Blixz finally fixed Demo when they ruined it but I might as well ask.

I hate to say this, but that is pure coping. If the only thing people can say about the new WoW expac is how the "art direction is amazing" that should be a red flag.
At least from my recent personal experience with Shadowlands.

I remember getting Shadowlands when it was on sale (I was following Shadowlands's trainweck through youtube videos, websites , threads like these and stories told by people that kept playing WoW, prior to that ).
Despite everything, I wanted to give it a shot to see is the state of it that bad. I was too :optimistic: .

I played briefly through the intro of it, where I was shown what would be the expac's hub world and bit of the Kyrian area. And through my first hour or so, the only thing I said about it was
"Wow, the art direction/artwork for this expansion pack is pretty" which was extremely out of character for me, because I never said something like that ever about WoW.

The art direction in WoW is nice but it wasn't the primary thing I'd focus when I would play the previous expansions, I was focused on gameplay, quests and story first.
So when that was the first thing I said about this new expansion pack, I instantly knew this isn't good at all. An hour later or so, I tapped out, deleted the game and battle.net launcher,
because I knew there's no point in coping and felt my time is being disrespected/wasted by Blizzard.

This might come of as spergy but, I particularly felt frustrated because even if the art direction for that expansion pack was nice, it was completely wasted and didn't matter.
Because according to everything that exists in Shadowlands, it's fake, meaningless and artificial. So why bother with caring about the side characters, their quests and world.
when the """reveal""""" is big pile of nihilistic bullshit?

All because, Danuser wanted to pat his own back by adding whatever pop culture MCU goyslop was trendy in these past two years with similar
themes, so consoomer poisoned nu-WoW fans can clap like seals if they recognize a reference to their favorite media in the game they're playing, at the cost of raping WoW lore again and
flipping off people who been fans ever since WC3.

TL;DR: Even if a game has the most beautiful art direction, it cannot carry a game that's shit in other aspects.
Don't fall for the same meme as I did.

Demo has really strong on demand burst AoE and will probably be the best ranged spec for Mythic + and also feels great gameplay wise and it feels really great class fantasy wise when you just fucking yeet someone with 20 imps. Destro isn't great in dungeons but is still likely really solid in raids and kept most of the things they really enjoyed in SL.

It is comical how pretty much every wow eceleb I used to watch four years ago is still there playing wow despite them posting videos how they are done for real this time.

They are still trying to make crafting relevant.lol problem is as you pointed out that there is so much gear that crafted stuff become irelevant really quickly.
So for most of expansion all that will be worth making in my experience are consumables/utility (enchants, flasks, gliders...). Colectible items (mounts, pets). And slutmogs/ cool looking weapons. Raw materials are usually not worth it, becauce you have to compete with bots and multiboxers

I am glad they figured out Demo.

For a while I didnt expect them to because they didnt realize that, mechanically and practically, the Demons were just DoTs. They fly out at a target and do damage for a bit. Or get consumed by some spell for big damage. All tried and true DoT mechanics, except DoTs tended not to have cast times and could be cast on majy targets. This was its big gameplay impediment.
