World of Warcraft

9.1.5 seems to be the patch of "Oh did you like this stuff we didn't add in the game? Here it is! Now please please resubscribe."
Except for the change to LFG, which requires you to have two-factor authentication to make custom LFG listings.

"We want to combat spam postings, therefore we are going to make it extremely inconvenient for everybody."

Thanks, Blizz.

Running a little vanilla server with world bots for the wife and I has been a pretty fun experience. Tweak it how I want, play it how I want. Never did guild or social shit in WoW anyways, so I'm really not missing anything.
What do you mean by world bots? Like AI adventurers out there in the wild?

just don't try to do quests.

it's literal bots that run around the classes that you set.
i have such a server too, they cannot do raid mechanics besides trying to kill stuff and healing/buffing.

That sounds awesome, I might set one up this weekend, see how it works for me. Can you direct them in an way? Like if I get bored, amass 39 of them and march in Orgrimmar to 'fix the timeline' would they follow me?

follow you? yes.
when for hire they act like normal npc's (granted you spawn them), just search for WoW SinglePlayer with Bots and you'll see links, for wow pservers usually you'll see a OwnedCore link, RageZone is quality releases but i don't remember if they have it, you'll be directed to a 3.3.5a version.
and you don't need that much, just make sure they have the high honor pvp set and that's it, about 7 or so can storm the main cities but more will increase the damage to the main boss npc's.

On the 9.1.5 PTR, Mac'Aree was renamed to Eredath. Not the worst of name changes, but nothing really special either. What I do wonder is if they'll have the VAs re-record dialog that refers to the previous-now-can't-be-said name of the said Argus region, or if they'll just do the easy way and cut any mentions of it out.
Didn't even realize that was meant to be named after anyone in particular, I think I recall seeing 'Mac'aree' or something like it much earlier. Chances are they'll just awkwardly lop off the dialogue but I'd actually find it hilarious if they shittily patched over it with a clearly different take.

looks like mage tower is coming back again, but instead of weapons skins, it's the mythic armor recolors from ToS.

Reward is unconfirmed last I knew. The recolors could be attached to a Legion timewalking M+ meta achieve and it would make as much sense.

What kind of gay retard actually gets offended because of a few things in a game being named after a disgraced dev and achievements with 2007-tier lad humour? What the hell happened to the WoW fanbase that this shit triggers them? Or are Blizzard just changing it regardless of whether any real people were actually offended?

Blizzard has decided that the way to regain the grace of their fanbase is to lop off anything that may be offensive now, later, or ever previously including their older puns and media references. I'd have not ever included Paris Hilton as something or someone who is offensive but I'm also not some Cali bound blizz peon.

Maybe, but I don't think they will reintroduce the weapon skins again, also if the armor sets are the reward then I don't know how the rewards will work, do you have to do all role challenges to earn the reward? Or just one? Will you be scaled to Legion level? And God knows how the balancing will work, I remember Affliction Warlock being nearly impossible to do unless you have a legendary that slows down the boss or exploited some bug that I did to make the kiting part a lot easier.

Simple, the original fanbase left and you're just dealing with the retard stragglers who are now the majority through attrition.

I have to say though the single player servers are wonderful. If you ever want to roll a character and just dick around with stuff it's pretty fun. GM commands work for everything from day/night cycles, to enemy/item spawns, to achievements. If customization ever reaches new heights we could have full custom campaign servers.

Once blizzard fully bites it, I hope the source code is released because the game is still worth exploring, but it's not worth dealing with their modern corporate bullshit.

1) Insane Elitists who can't give up game because they lose clout and are just jerks.
yeah that reminds me of the other resto druid in my guild who was pushing for glad

dude was a horrifying elitist and would tilt almost immediately the second anyone did anything wrong. screaming "FUCKING SCRUBS" on voice chat. meanwhile everyone wanted to group with me instead for mysterious reasons

Best is the elitist exploiters.
Can't queue a mists of tira anymore without a warlock being in the group terrain exploiting the first trash packs. Every group thats done it has not had the % of forces at end anyway...

Daily reminder not to fall for the sunk cost fallacy. There are people out there (maybe even in this thread) who have devoted almost seventeen years to this game, but that doesn't mean you can't quit anytime. It might feel bad to no longer see all the gear or mounts or bear asses you grinded out over the years, but really, it's nothing more than pixels and numbers. It's okay to cut your losses and find something else to spend your time or money on.

If you're looking at the modern state of Blizzard with disdain, unable to see how they could possibly turn any of their multiple Titanics around, yet still forking over your $15 every month, then you're only contributing to the problem. Remember, schadenfreude is 100% free.

that is only part of it. depending how long you've played you can't (and most people don't want to) quit cold turkey, cutting of contact with your "friends" ingame and suddenly have to fill evenings actually communicating with your SO or maybe even reflect on your life or whatever. lot of people simply can't handle not doing the ritual they've been doing for years logging into the game and grinding stuff; suddenly they got hours of free time to fill, how are they gonna do it if they even remember how?
it's the same reason they get back into it because there isn't anything replacing the timewasting/escapism, for most of them you'd need something of a similar caliber to keep them busy and distracted, like ff14, after that you'd have to compete with sunken cost. why do you think everybody was suddenly jerking themself raw over classic? it was the best of both worlds, still WoW and a whole new old game to grind shit in. didn't matter how simple and "solved" vanilla was.

the best thing for those people would unironically be WoW dying for good so they have to do something else, but most likely they'd just pick up something else as a substitute.

How hard is it to set up a single-player private server, both in terms of computer power and skill?
