What impresses me more about those movies is how Glenn did her own stunts. That's dedication, especially in a time where most stunts weren't done by the lead actor (unless they were a trained stuntperson)No way she can chew scenery as well as Glenn Close.
I haven't seen any of the live action remakes all the way through. Tried watching Jungle Book, but the animated one already bored me, and the live action one seemed even slower. Couldn't make it past the first song in the Beauty and the Beast one. I just haven't been interested, so I haven't bothered to see them.
Back on topic, this new wave of remakes is pretty much in the forgettable-godawful range of Disney's output. Lion King is probably the worst so far since it's not even live action, just photoreal CGI for 90 minutes redoing a film that looked and sounded so much better in 2D. And no amount of Elton John or James Earl Jones returning will change that.
