I voted for Yan Sim, but none of the games on this list deserve to be called the worst indie game of the decade cause Steam is full of atrocious shit that was slapped together using Unity's asset store.
Remember "Day One: Garry's Incident", "War Z" or "Slaughtering Grounds"? Even Yan Sim is better than that.

I don't know about the 2010s. But from the 2020s we started great this week with that retarded cat game and the 50Gb PowerPoint presentation

If I were to pick among the list, it'll be Yandere Simulator for sure due to development drama and tons of shit going on behind the scenes.

Otherwise, if I can pick other, that'd be these low quality assetflip games you can find on Android phones which technically count as Indie games.

Depression Quest, obviously, if you include anything other than just the game. It's terrible even if you don't, but worse games were released, hard as it can be to fathom.

As someone who has read every '@Jaimas plays a terrible game' thread, none of which made the list, I'd nominate them, with special attention to Patriarchy Simulator 2000, and whatever the one was called where you play a games journalist and all you do is mash the keyboard so a self-pitying article appears, one letter at a time.

Anything by Anna Anthropy.

My personal worst is Umineko but I think that's just cause it was the first VN I played and it turns out I really can't stand VNs.

My definition of worst is not just bad as a game, but bad for the industry itself. So a lot of the junk games here are saved by YouTubers showcasing their jank or inspiring retarded internet drama, which removes most of the games here.

While having any walking simulator is tempting, the entire genre nuked itself out once you had "muh 30 minutes games about my dead cancer baby". So I'd nominate Limbo as harbinger of scary kids trope and press right for plot.

YanDev is the only actually bad game there unless you count Hunt Down the Freeman being so bad it’s good (from what I’ve heard), or Goat Simulator’s devs intentionally keeping all non-game-breaking bugs because it’s funnier.

As for all the posts mentioning Fez for some reason, it was one of the first big indie examples of “great game, unlikeable dev”, and I wouldn’t hold Phil’s insufferable fagginess against the game itself.

The public release of Minecraft is from May 2009, and the "maybe stolen" is just a reference to the old claims that Minecraft stole Infiniminer's thunder.
It's theft all the way down to a GE patent in the 80's.

No one's mentioned Sunset, a piece of shit non-game that didn't run well made by pretentious retards that hired Leigh Alexander who didn't even know she was supposed to do any kind of work for the $40,000 she got. To her it was more like a bribe.

It's definitely Gone Homo, the incestuous promotion of that shitty game by game journos in friend cliques surrounding it was the spawn point of the cancer that killed western gaming in general, not just indie games

Yandere Simulator and Hunt Down the Freeman are objectively the worst ones, but unlike the rest of the list, they haven't inspired the industry to make more bland indie games, Goat Simuator brought us a wave of shitty streamer bait ragdoll physics games, Undertale brought us even more hipster Earthbound-likes, Gone Homo is the posterchild of walking simulators and "art" games, and Among Us is a shitty meme that refuses to die.
