So I was starting to play through The Warriors on PSP and one of the first things that hit me was how the VO for Vermin sounded nothing like the dude.

There's a billion games out there based on other media. Obviously games can't always get people from the original cast (or anyone original at all), but damn sometimes it's like they aren't trying.
You fucks have any other good examples?

I considered putting this in multimedia, and if someone wants to make a separate thread have fun.

Remember when Payday 2 tried to redesign Hoxton and replaced Pete Gold with some random asshole, and it was so poorly received that they ended up turning the remake into a different character and bringing back the old Hoxton?

Kiwi Farms remembers.

Whoever replaced Viridi in Smash Ultimate needs to be shot from a cannon. It's ear rape to me while the original sounds nothing like that. It was sorta nasally but like little kid nasally. Not nails on a chalkboard

Adding on to this, none of the crossover characters have their original actors for their voices. The only exception I'm aware of is Jimmy.

The big question is how well they did to match the original actors, but I gave that game up before they even introduced the dentist so I have no idea.

This is a really weird and autistic example, so bear with me for a minute.

Leonard Nimoy voiced Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. He's a surprisingly good voice actor in that he almost elevates the material he's working with (but then he's Leonard Nimoy, dude could elevate even the shittiest Trek episodes).

Nimoy sadly passed away in 2015, before the release of Kingdom Hearts III. It just so happened that Nimoy voiced the main antagonist in the whole series, and KH3 was meant to wrap his story up. You'd expect them to just get a stand-in, maybe someone like Corey Burton, but instead they replace him with Rutger Hauer.

Hauer's performance is so far removed from how Nimoy played him that I don't know what they're going for. If he's trying to imitate Nimoy he doesn't do a particularly good job at it.

The biggest one that stands out for me was whoever the fuck they got to play Michael Corleone in the Godfather game.

When you are a fan of the movies, the fact that this guy isn't Al Pacino really stands out.

Jennifer Hale as Halle Berry's stand-in for Catwoman of course.

I'll also put here that the Fantastic Four cast is bad but them providing their own voice to the game is godawful. Delivery is so blah.

Not sure if it counts but EG Daily of all people replacing Tasia Valenza as Spider Woman in MUA2.

I think the VA for Truth in Halo 3 was good but not as great as in Halo 2. In Halo 2, he sounded scheming and conniving who only saw the Covenant as means for power where in Halo 3 he sounds like a overzealous believer. It could be the writing so I won't harp on it.

A minor one, but the replacement voice actor for Frank West in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. The dude voicing him sounds way too chipper for the scruffy, overworked Frank.

I know it can't be helped because Wayne Allwine passed away, but when I was watching a stream of Kingdom Hearts 3, Mickey Mouse's new voice really grated on my ears.

I dunno. It should be noted that Truth had a character arc going on. Basically he wants to be THE Prophet to achieve ascension and to do that he schemes the deaths of his rivals. Once his rivals are dead, he goes into full insane zealot mode because he thinks he’s now destined to achieve his goal no matter what happens.

The voice actor in 3 was Terence Stamp. It was a bit of celebrity stunt casting. I preferred Michael Wincott as Truth too.

James Arnold Taylor's impression of Johnny Depp in Kingdom Hearts II was godawful. Even worse, he's actually proud of this. He brings it up as one of the highlights of his voice acting career in live appearances:

To be fair, the guy who played Scarface was handpicked by Al Pacino during Scarface The World is Yours and is now more or less the official voice double for Pacino

To be fair, this was actually something they *had* to do because Pacino refused to lend his likeness to the game.

Im not sure if this arnie stand-in was trying his hardest or he just didn't give a shit
>Terminator arrives from the future via time portal
>Fully clothed

That's not how it works. Way to screw up one of the most iconic "little details" of the Terminator franchise, lads. No wonder people hate NRS so much.
