Would aliens be atheists?

Probably no way to know until we meet them. Unless they have a direct line to God that we don't, my guess is that they'd be just like us and nobody would agree about anything important.

I've been reading some stuff lately about convergent evolution, and how there's actually a fairly limited number of paths evolution can take when it comes to certain critical components. Though I should say that the finer details are MASSIVELY above my pay grade. That said, there's maybe some good reason to think that their brains would be more or less like ours in the ways that matter. Especially if you think that a strong evolutionary component of religion is hyperactive agency. That is, that people tend to believe in gods because we tend to anthropomorphize and ascribe intelligence, even when it's not warranted. If that's the case, they're probably like us. Mostly religious, but without much agreement on what that actually means. And that's to say nothing about the social aspects of religion.

But I'd be very interested to see which of their religious stories might parallel ours.
 
I'll bite and dig my hole further. Why does the beginning of the universe matter at all? What does it change in your daily life? Are you going to love your family less or hate your enemies less if you know the origin of existence?

Because look at the state of the West we have been becoming more and more secular for decades. The family unit has been broken, we have people turning their children trans/pimping them out. We need faith in God to keep us from abusing one another.
 
I think we expect a monolith to keep things simple, but any species we encounter would be similar to humans with atheists and thousands of religions.

Humans have widely varying beliefs right now, and we're maybe a century out from having legit colonies around the solar system, little isolated cult-like bubbles. Eventually, humanity could fracture into different species across several star systems. The same would happen to aliens if they can develop to a similar point without being wiped out.

Yes, we need to worship the same god as the kikes who have ruined our society, that is surely the answer to all the degeneracy in the world!
 
It depends because not all aliens are equal.

We are aliens to them, if they exist, and there's not even a consensus on Earth. So maybe planet X has a 40% of the population being believers, and the rest not, while Planet Y having a different percentage.

Conclusion: If they follow basic rules of logic they should be agnostic, strongly leaning towards atheism or non theistic beliefs.

If they ignore things like solipsism, the brain in the vat theory or the limitations of empirical knowledge for obtaining truth, then they'll be biased, which shouldn't be that strange. At the end of the day, we're assuming the thoughts of living creatures that are exposed to this cruel world, maybe even more infernal than in the Solar System.
 
Heard it from someone that aliens, if they do come to our neighbourhood is they lack religion and came seeking ours.

Imagine being in a Jetsons setting where everything is easy but you can't even worship Jesus, Allah, Buddha or even demon goat.

We wouldn't encounter those aliens anyway, they'd have already transcended the mortal plane.
 
If able to travel all the way here they would be supremely technologically advanced and hence able to control the world. As such, they would be (((alien jews))).
 
What if Aliens are way behind in evolution when we encounter them? Would we colonize them for their space-spices? Enslave them for space-cotton? Would we posit ourselves as their gods in a white man's burden kind of way? Would autists fetishize or demonize them? So many questions...
 
You can probably apply the Copernican principle and assume an alien society would face similar challenges we do and would therefore end up as religiously diverse.
I fear the universe may be increasingly dominated by machine civilizations. They wouldn't know Jesus, but we may need one to face them some day.
