Would it be prefferable to have AI function as law enforcement?

I am all for sexy robots enforcing the rules.

Seconded. Motion approved. I would let this robot "enforce the rules" with me any way she wanted.

Every AI we have ever had realizes that 13% accounting for half might not be a good sign.

I feel like we have had several books, comics, movies, short novels, graphic novels, video games, and random Internet Articles as to why this is a bad idea. Between the whole "cold logic" thing and the entire police force potentially being wiped out by a rogue solar flare or EMP, I think we should stick with humans for a while.

What if AI cops give you a guaranteed Job where part of your salary is in medicine for your brain problems
What are you trying to get at? How would it guarantee me a job let alone medication as part of my salary? I do not see a machine guaranteeing me anything if Murphy's Law is applicable in any situation that involves technology or people. Also my moral quandary with this was about thought crime. AI robots arresting you for your thoughts you may not act on or words in the current climate. For example you have a shitty day because of a person and you have a dark intrusive thought about hurting them, but you don't act on it because A.)its morally wrong and B.) the risks outweigh the benefits. Or the robots scanning you try to predict the probability of you committing a crime. Which in theory would probably lower crime, but at what cost? Innocent people thrown in jail and due process thrown out the window. When you get down to it arresting someone again for not doing anything yet without suficient evidence is tarded. Nanny states are shit period.

By controlling the economy
Cop robots controlling the economy...? That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. We already have to contend with people wanting Communist economics/governments. Dealing with robots programmed by humans who would probably try to do the same is no better. Giving economic control to something that could easily take over humanity is quite Orwelian don't you think?

You’d think the three laws of robotics would apply to robot cops as well.
Then again, if Asimov was so smart, how come he’s dead?
The three laws of robotics were made to be broken and have loopholes in Asimov’s stories.

A lot of places already use algorithms for setting bail and determining sentences. I don't think it'd be a good idea to use robots as street cops or something though, since like 90% of that job is people skills.

I kinda like the fact that stupid people are more likely to get caught for every crime. Rank has its privilege, and all that. In the future, I doubt anyone will be able to get away with anything.

One thing I wonder about without knowing anything about the topic: do you think there might be some giant cache of ancient security tapes out there that, in the future, can be digitized, the films subject to facially recognition, and then thousands of people charged with decades old instances of drug trafficking and stuff like that where no crime was even suspected at the time?
