Would life be better or worse if immortals ruled - What would happen if the deep state never grew old and senile?

If the agents of the deep state that control our lives never grew senile or old and tired; would life be better as they are more competent, or harder as they are impossible to remove from power?

It would depend on the immortals in question.

Like, if they were like Highlanders or something, infinite lifespans but otherwise human, then it would just be an evil empire, no ifs ands or buts. Humans gonna human.

If they were some sort of immortal non-human being is when we would have reason for hope. Gods or Angels for example. I suppose its possible that even the afformentioned Highlanders might actually have great morals and could keep themselves in check, but I see it as more likely with beings who never have to worry about food and never have a desire to fuck.

Chances are we'd end up ruled by the most cunning and brutal leaders. However, that's not to say it'd be all bad. Genghis Khan isn't such a bad guy if you submit to him. You'd be worst off under idiot benevolent leaders. Imagine being ruled by Justin Trudeau forever. Stalin has some respect for industry. Starmer will see you drowned under a tide of browns your tax dollars are funneled to support.

It would be way worse since the elites would be completely unconcerned with things like healthcare of helping the elderly.
The old and the sick would just be disposed of or left to die.
They also wouldn't care about any pressing issues like the economy because hey, they can fix it all later in 200 years or so.

The elites being normal humans just like the rest of us makes them care about human things.

They would all just end up being killed forcibly. Unless you mean literally immortal, then they would probably be entombed alive or otherwise imprisoned by the people who finally grew tired of their shenanigans. And it would have happened a long time ago by now.

noo death is intrinsic to our humanity.
if you dont die you are not human, all the evil super natural creatures like vampires live forever, while the good ones like gnomes die eventually

Came here to say something like this. The reason our current elites are so awful is because they have so little in common with us. They don't worry about losing their homes or their jobs or having their lives uprooted and changed in ways they don't like because their lives are so different, they would not be affected by it. About the only thing they have in common with us is that eventually, they will die too. Take that away, and there is nothing they won't do to us.
You generally want the people ruling you to be as similar to you as possible. An immortal would be almost like a god compared to you and they may see themselves that way literally.

When situations get out of hand, it's possible that revolutions are born as a response.

If these supposed "elite, immortal rulers" from the shadows get too careless, the will of the people would eventually fire up, and reform the law so that this position they have is no longer valid, and so these immortals would be forcibly retired (by the law itself).

I might be giving too much credit to the common person, but push too hard and you'll end up with a problem threatening your comfortable life.

Because even though I believe humans evolve way too slowly, the potential is still there.
