In the past decade smartphones have become ubiquitous, with most people having access to the internet and social media in their pocket at all times. Would society be better if it somehow reverted to a world in which convenient instant internet access was relegated to dedicated computers, and phones reverted to simple applications such as text messaging, phone calls and slow basic internet?

Personally I think so. Something I've noticed increasingly are people who's primary hobby seems to be consuming social media, not creating content, but consuming massive amounts of content, in bed, on their phone. I think it would help also make the internet less toxic, as it would require the user to choose to sit at and focus on their computer, as opposed to being able to fire off a poorly thought out tweet instantly, anywhere they may happen to find themselves.

God and his Temple's Constructor says the internet should only be accessed through desktop and laptop computers with 640x480 resolution screens, and cell phones should always be in the flip-phone form factor. Anyone who says otherwise should be killed with an A-10 Thunderbolt cannon.

Smartphones ruined the internet and the individual. Steve Jobs was the harbinger of social doom.
I agree, I think smartphones had an enormous role in centralising the Net, with apps that could be infinitely scrolled through. It is odd we live in this kind of hive mind world where everyone is plugged into the total knowledge of the human race pretty much 24/7, with a device that watches them.

No, all the retards in the world should just be culled so we can have things that are actually useful (since there's way more you can do with a smartphone besides scroll twitter/tiktok/facebook like a brainlet) without them constantly being turned to garbage by faggots with no self restraint.

Eventually the retard apocalypse is going to have to happen, you can only protect them from themselves for so long and reducing everyone to living in pods to save the retards doesn't seem agreeable imo.

On the whole it's a solid maybe or depends. I think most people use their smart phones just to sustain constant dopamine highs (myself included) but I know (also myself included) a lot of people use them as incredible tools to be able to have access to so much information at an instant.

Need a quick calculator? Got it.
Camera (probably another conversation), got it.
In an argument and need to quickly verify a fact? Got it.
Lost my paper tickets to a concert? No problem, it's in my email as well.

Those are some examples just shooting from the hip. I believe there are a lot of people out there who use their phones as proper tools but in the aggregate that's probably not the case.

I never carry a smartphone with me because:

A: I've found them to be unnecessary (who tf am I gonna call, I have no friends)

B: I'm paranoid the Illuminati-Jew-Nigger-La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo-Freemasons-Stonemasons-New-World-Order use them to track my every move and everything I say, and are gonna snipe me. (Slightly exaggerated but point still stands)

i went back to a dumb phone from my previous iPhone. I just really REALLY hate the dependency feeling I have on the smart phone and how it becomes the "Default" action whenever you're bored for a few seconds/minutes. It's insidious how much of my life had been taken over by the smart phone ever since I got one back in I think 2015 is when I got my first one.

The rot in society has only been increased or exacerbated by smartphones. Getting rid of them would stay the rot, to some extent, but just because certain branches of the proverbial tree still bear leaves and seem healthy, doesn't change the fact that the core is still rotted and useless.

Yes because thats how goverment and corporations track you. The phones aren't your friend.

No because having a line of communication during emergencies and a way to record something at an instant like a crime or geneva convention violation is good.

Maybe because humans were 2 stupid to be handling all that power on the palm of their hand. Also people would just be watching tv/be on the computer if we had no smartphones.
