Imagine a pill that makes it so you would never be able to fall asleep again. You also get no tiredness, no health consequences, no negative effects at all—just 24 hours of pure wakefulness every single day for the rest of your life. And the effect is permanent.

Would you take it? What would you do with the extra time? Or would you keep sleeping just because it feels good?

no, i enjoy sleep, my dreams are awesome, except for the ones where i go to restaurants because I NEVER GET MY DAMN FOOD. god i am a fucking fatass.
Mother Fucker! I occasionally have work dreams where Chef asks me to grab something from the other end of the line to finish a ticket, and I never ever make it to the other end because random tasks keep coming up. Are you the guest that ticket is for? I'm so sorry.

i swear, a bunch of bullshit always comes up and i never get my food and i wake up pissed off. its genuinely worse than a nightmare, at least with a nightmare I can shake it off because it wasnt real, but when i wake up from these dreams im still pissed because i still want that food, it looked amazing.

I don't get how we haven't evolved past the need for sleep. Seems to me like humans who naturally need less sleep have more time to fuck.

Absolutely not. Then I can't dream. However, I will take a pill that eliminates the need to go to the bathroom. Or breathe. Fuck asthma.

No. Such a device would have surely been only developed for one purpose; that being to maximize human efficiency in an increasingly demanding workplace (compare to the use of caffeine), so when you think about it, it really does little in regard to our freedom; the opposite in fact.

no but I'd crush it up and make a nice neat line out of it

I swear there was a movie about this but any time I say that people think I'm remembering Limitless.

There was that horror movie where some disease makes everyone unable to sleep. But I can't remember the name of it.
