Wrongthink

have you ever had any moment where you feel like certain ideas must be snuffed out?
At one point, probably yes. Now? No. Even the most ridiculous ideas deserve to be heard at least once, even if they are never heard again.

Here's my reasoning. Through life I had constantly seen what most would consider the "left wing" in constant power and action. The ideas persisted through economics, culture, moral ideals, etc. I was never very impressed by the results and I decided that I'd give the "right wing" a fair chance, and I gave them my support.

I can't tell you how many people were just blatantly mad at me for this. "But that's just wrong you don't consider that side EVER because they're bad." I was willing to give the right wing the benefit of the doubt and for the most part I had opposition trying to dissuade me or flat out label me as hateful for doing so. On the other hand, the right wing showed me mostly kindness. Now that the right has gained traction, I can't say it's perfect and without any flaws, but I don't think they're doing a "bad job." I think the world needs to be pulled back to the right a bit and I think this is good for us that many people are experiencing ideas that make them "uncomfortable."

Plenty of people would have loved to banish the right due to "wrongthink" but in my opinion, had it happened, it would have been an awful call. It's fine to disagree with ideas but to try to banish them from having their chance at genuine discussion is stupid and can only lead to a state where you keep doing the same shit over and over, expecting a different result because trying other options is forbidden.

tl;dr: No, don't ever ban any idea.

Although I think that certain ideas are the thought equivalent of cancer and should be erased for the sake of society as a whole, I feel that any instrument created for this purpose would eventually be used to recreate 1984. So I fully support free speech, and endure stupid ideas for the sake of the good ones.

That's how It starts. It's a snowball, like killing the poor, in the sence that you take away the bad ideas for the good ones to remain, but the only reasons there were bad ideas is because there were good ideas, so now the not-so-bad-ideas are the just bad ideas, so you just take those out and you are left with the less-than-good ideas, but now those are the bad ones, so kill those and then you keep climbing the ladder until you just reach the original good ideas, splitted into several other core ideas with different values, so you kill the lesser ones at such rate you are left only with a gun to your temple because now you are a bad idea with no good ones to compare to. So yes, let the feudalists, the Neo-Nazis, the commies and the people who think Pinochet and Videla did nothing wrong In, if they are incorrect then the free market of ideas will colapse on them again and again and the good ones will survive.

I think art needs to have high standards again. I'm sick of this modern free spirit bullshit that gives lazy beatniks millions of dollars for a small red circle on a giant canvas and squiggly lines. Pulling meaning out of their ass to seem philosophical and sophisticated.

I'm all for capitalism, free markets and what have you, but fuck those lazy twats. Most of them are poor or struggling for a reason and they should suffer for their decisions on majoring in art instead of something useful.

A lot of modern "art" is basically memes for artists. But they shouldn't call it "art", because making them requires no art skills, just being on with the art memescape.
Another whole lot of modern "art" is just pretencious bullshit that isn't either memes or actual art, and those can fuck right off.

Ideas? No.

The adherents of said ideas are often prone to being one-man echo chambers though, which can be a significant issue with regards to reviewing and discussing the idea in a real-world context.

I'd like to see communism eradicated but only through moral means like debate and education, not by burning books or shooting people for believing it. So basically it'll never actually happen. But you can't really kill an idea anyway, no matter how hard you try.

The problem isn't freedom of speech, it's people using conformation bias, or people being incredibly dishonest for a narrative. We can't fix that even if we censor speech. So really censorship wouldn't help.

There are people who are so fucking dumb, I mean monumentally fucking stupid, that think the earth is flat, for over 2000 years we can prove it's not. What good does a law make? I'm honestly hot under the collar people are that fucking brain dead and cultish. Yes, it rustles me. But I have scientific proof from this very moment going back to Greek days saying you are wrong.

To outlaw or stop it gives it a new power. In some cases it can get literally dangerous vs funny and or offensive, like anti vax. But then it's one thing to think vaxes are bad, vs take an action about it. Let's be real if you don't have kids or won't/can't. It really doesn't matter nor do you have ability to do anything other than well sound silly.

Again, you want to use cherry picked data that fits what you want.... this can apply to anything. Nature of science and statistics, you can "prove" anything, but when you take it to a real testing ground or debate we know what's real and what isn't.

Some things do bother me, but I know what makes me most upset and or baffled I as a layman can utterly destroy in a debate. When you act like an adult, and beat someone in a debate, you look good as does your cause. We can't stop kooks who think the moon is a projected image, so why worry?

My biggest scare is how we are educating people to step away from the basic rule of thought, facts win. I think freedom should be just that not have some limits and I am scared to death what if the shoe changes feet? What if, we lived where people like Lindsay from QKS was in charge? I'd go to prison for saying pedo's are bad. There's untold amounts of information showing this. But these people are trying to brush the facts aside, and not even replace with cherry picked ones, but with it feels right or ok.

The fact so many groups be it schools governments, companies allowing simple facts to be replaced is the real fear and worry as once that's done not only will civil debate end, the stop of "right think" will be enforced and I don't mean the politcal spectrum, I mean basic functions of the world that upset some nutter will be stopped.

I don't want to live in a world where calling the moon landing real is an imprisonable offense, nor do I want to live in one denying it is.
