So I now know around a dozen people who've caught the Omicrons.

10 are vaxxed with 2 having had the booster. Ages from early 20's to late 60's. Symptoms all pretty much the same. Runny nose to start with, for the younger ones that was it. For the older ones a sore throat and a dry cough. I think one told me he had a headache and felt a bit shit. The 2 unvaxxed ones, one just had a snotty nose, the other had a dry cough and scratchy throat. For all of them symptoms completely gone in 2-4 days.

For the people I know who got the Covs last year symptoms ranged from a mild flu to hospital admission. I don't know anyone who's died of Covid.

Anyway seeing is believing and Omicron is a cold. Given how mild it is I'm highly skeptical that anyone is being admitted to hospital due to it. Maybe extremely aged nursing home residents or cancer patients, but even then who would actually end up in hospital with a runny nose and sore throat?

All of them got a perfunctory SMS from the health department to self isolate and go and get a PCR on day 6 otherwise no phone calls let alone door knocks to make sure they were quarantining.

Just I was feared. Earlier in this thread or in the Australian totalitarian megathread, someone posted an info about a Melbourne woman put herself on fire and I was afraid then it'll only the beginning....

Dont set yourself on fire, folks. I'd suggest set something inanimate on fire like a parliament, but historically that only resulted in even more totalitarianism, so dont do that, either.

Self-immolation is a valid protest, I mean some places are approaching hell on Earth-tier so might as well set yourself on fire in front of a politician's house or burn down a vaxx/testing distribution center.

I know that Asian cultures are inherently collectivist because of what some dude said hundreds of years ago or whatever, but is there something specific about Australian culture that allows for this? This country started as a fucking prison colony and they have dangerous animals crawling everywhere, why are they pansies?

I am thankful I live in a US red state.

They're a British Commonwealth, so I'd imagine the outback ruggedness and independence has been slowly conditioned out of the populous much like Canada.

I know I'm late but this "comic" really got under my skin. I've had the coof, I've still got the parosmia. (Big ol' TMI is available for the curious.) And all I can say is... suck it up, buttercup. If you think life dealing you a bad hand gives you a pulpit to make demands from then I'll get on mine to say the opposite of what you're selling here and to politely tell you to shove your medical advice up your ass to replace the stool samples. Get vaxed if you want, wear three masks (you only replace when the string breaks) if you want, smoke crack to heal yourself because it works in Postal if you want, I don't care. But push any of that on someone else and you're just another tinpot dictator who wants to live other people's lives for them. And why? Because it's easier to force others to live with the consequences of your bad decisions than it is to wake up every morning with those consequences yourself.

Even if all the world's leaders came out together adn admitted they were doing the whole Covid stuff from the past TWO YEARS because [reason of choice] and that it was all BS to further [whatever] there would still be people worshipping at the altar of St Fauci and attacking anyone not wearing masks.

In Ireland, healthy adults under 40 and children over 3 (read: pretty much everyone getting infected at the moment) now need a positive antigen test before they can be referred for a PCR. You'll also be able to use the antigen test to apply for illness benefits. They've been reporting 20K cases per day recently, about double previous peaks, but that might drop now there's an extra hurdle to get a test that you don't need for the corona dole anymore anyway. My tinfoil take is that this change is coming just in time to be credited to the booster.
