I couldn't imagine paying for this trash even before the price increase. I can understand if you have a business that actually benefits from marketing on X, but other than that? It's too full of spam and fake engagement, and the algorithm's been tweaked to specifically limit the reach of non-premium accounts. And that's before you take into account all the fucked up shit the algorithm does, like limiting posts that contain links to websites outside of X, even if you have a premium account. And of course the ADL has Elon on speed dial, with him ready to remove anything they don't like. The entire system's been tweaked to financially reward the worst kinds of accounts.

Elon is so retarded. He has been laboring under the delusion, for a very long time, that charging for Premium was THE best and only way "to defeat the bots." He has been proven wildly wrong about this, and has been making more and more unpopular decisions decisions about the direction of the site such that plenty of people were already canceling their simpy bluechecks even before this. I suspect the site is hemorrhaging money.

The truth is that his attention was captured by other, shinier things (like Trump) and he has largely abandoned the "principles" he claimed to have in buying the platform in the first place. Everybody who bought into it deserves the mushroom stamp he just gave them.

I may be retarded, but since Elon is part of the government now (DOGE), would you suppose the increase will go towards helping the people, or is that too optimistic? Or am I extremely exceptional and naive for even entertaining this thought?

I really want to believe that shit's going to get better, I'm tired of hating everything. I don't want to see America go down, and for the first time in a long while it feels like there's hope, at least for a few years.

If by 'the people' you mean 'the people who own Xitter' then yes. Xitter is almost certainly still operating at a loss so the increase will go towards paying its bills like the loan that Elol used to partly fund the purchase.

Guess I will probably let my premium expire. Just don't see the point. There's so many fucking spam bots and I'm already paying out the ass for dozens of other online bullshit services I rarely use.

They really should've included something useful with it, like free premium subs to 2 accounts per month or some shit.

I tried premium and it still doesn't solve the horrible reach throttling they do on accounts. 90% reduction in engagement doesn't happen overnight. I ran an experiment whre I created a new account and used it for a month, and the difference in responses was astronomical. I think my account has some of these filters left over from Jack and now Elon's staff. All you are going to see is the same handful of grifters being reply boosted and on the For You feed. They just happen to take all of Elon's dick length down their throat.

Premium is a scam though. If you pay for regular premium package in full but then switch over to basic, not only do you get nothing back, you can't go back to premium without being double charged. Their support doesn't give a shit and will say so, unless REQUIRED BY LAW.

It's sad because there are still some great posters on there but because they financially incentivized views/engagement there are thousands upon thousands of ChatGPT repliers and also people who just spam viral video content.
Almost all of it is slop and it drowns out actual thoughts and conversation.

They could really improve things by killing or seriously gatekeeping monetization. Like some chatgpt responses are interesting because they provide context but majority of them are just noise with no redeeming value. And more often than not when you click the origin account it's some guy in India who obviously either doesn't speak English or has no clue about the subject matter at hand.

I don't or barely even use the for you feed but I like reading comments and replies to tweeter accounts that I already follow. It just sucks that most responses are totally worthless now.
