Does Xbox One have any real good games? I'm looking to buy a PS4 or Xbox just to kill some time during the winter months since golfing isn't an option and target shooting in the cold is miserable. The Ps4 Pro looks cool, and I do love some weeb RPGs.
Perhaps Sunset Overdrive. I haven't played it due to my lacking of an Xbox, but I heard a lot of people say it's one of if not the best exclusive on the system.

SO is the only notable one that I can think of (unless you count Halo 5 and the Halo rerelease, which I don't.) This is what happens when you only purchase timed exclusivity and ruthlessly cull your own studios, MS.

Phil Spencer has a great sense of enthusiasm but his influence is marred by other corporate factors like Sataya Nadella (or Nutella Satay) wanting to put all his eggs in OneCompute, or a lack of communication not only between studio and division heads but consumers as a whole. The whole shitfire that was the 2013 reveal and the disastrous Master Chief Collection release (the most broken game in this generation apparently) doesn't help matters, and still plays a major role in a lack of foreign appeal for their devices and services.

Great guy but has absolutely no influence to match his personality. Which is sad because I've been pretty involved with the Xbox scene since the glorious OG Halo CE and 2 years. The PlayStation 4 I feel, as awesome as it seems, is probably going to get hamstrung by this smartphone upgrade model.

This whole generation sucks for console gamers really. I've been a HALO fan for quite a while and find it hard to just kick aside, but habits do die hard I guess. I need to save up for the PS4 and that Crash Bandicoot remake...

I think that the problem that they (and Nintendo following the Wii, Sony following the PS2, etc) had is that they put boardroom desires over consumer reality. Rather than targeting what the market wanted they targeted what would be easiest for them to make money off of. Sadly, as all of these companies inevitably find out, if you aren't first and foremost interesting to consumers you won't be able to make money off of your side-projects. They also assumed that consumers were happy with the tail end of the 360's life (and the Wii's in Nintendo's case) and thus set off to double down on Kinect, monthly payments and not bothering to make first party games. If they'd actually paid closer attention to gaming enthusiasts they'd realize that there was a lot of discontent there and that people were ready to jump companies. Of course what I think makes Microsoft be in deeper shit than those other examples is that they in particular sold off most of their gaming skeleton (the studios) over the past decade to the point where they pretty much only have 343, whatever's left of Rare, the Killer Instinct team and the racing game studio left. How the hell do you go back to basics and focus on games first with a lineup like that?

That all said, if for some reason you would prefer to buy a Xbox One over a PS4, go ahead and do it. 95% of third party games are multiplatform (and most of the ones that aren't are Japan-centric games) so you aren't going to be starved for content.

I actually find the backwards compatibility on the Xbox One to have a major edge over running the games on an actual Xbox 360, they've been chipping way at backwards compatibility's optimization and it had paid off in droves. BULLY: Scholarship Edition's color contrast was a smidgen better, Halo REACH got fixed recently and it has smooth frames.

I want Rockstar to include GTA IV onto the backwards compatibility list, then my life will be complete, and I will never miss even single player GTA5 ever again. It's still a fucking shame where Xbox headed, then again there's a ton of peeves not related directly to first party support that is turning me off from this generation as a whole. Huge patches that take about half an hour to download, smh.

I have both, and it honestly comes down to your personal taste on first party exclusives. I prefer XBox's exclusives of Halo, Gears of War and Killer Instinct - the latter has arguably been the best this generation because of how much good faith it has built towards its fanbase.

PS4 has God of War: Less Angry Kratos Edition coming up, as well as Last of Us 2, Uncharted 4, Robot Dinosaur Hunter (Killzone Dev's: Horizon: Zero Dawn), Guilty Gear and all the weeaboo jRPGs under the sun. I would also say Street Fighter V, but if you're buying it for that you might as well dust off the 360 and play Street Fighter IV, because as far as I've heard V has been an unmitigated disaster of a game.

Beyond that it's all mostly third-party, which I find myself spending most of my time (Battlefield 1 currently, though I did love the Titanfall 2 beta, and I PRAY that For Honour is actually good.) It's been a mostly shit generation for consoles really, blowing smoke with no substance.

Does this mean Kamiya was wrong for once?
