Many of these devs don't actually care. They put the kibosh on piracy speak on their discords because they're trying to pretend they look legitimate. They're afraid Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, fucking whatever is gonna come down on them hard if they look like they're supporting piracy. Rpcs3 went through this with the persona 5 thing when Sony and Atlus threatened legal action because their dumb weeb bullshit was fully playable in a way that they couldn't stop. That's why for the longest time they had no info on the game on their site.

It's just a show to stop to big corps from breathing down their necks.

From what I gathered he was a contributor to a branch project, and ultimately nobody important.

I think that's the shittiest part of this. He was a small contributor on a *fork* of the emulator, not even part of the real thing, and now the actual Xenia and its devs are getting shat on and its reputation tarnished because this literal who decided to be a retard about pirating abandonware videogames From 15-20 years ago

I'll give the German guy some credit. He's like the opposite of byuu when it comes to the actual software.
No$ all still run on DOS and win9x whereas byuu makes a bizarre exercise out of trying to eat as many system resources as possible emulating Super Mario.

Except the issue is that Xenia Canary tends to be the one that's most recommended over the mainline branch due to the fact it introduces various tweaks that improve performance and general gameplay over the main branch.

For example, Xenia has an issue with audio delay and they're not focusing on that at all. Xenia Canary had a tweak for that for a good while which can completely eradicate the audio delay. Xenia Canary was also the fork that brought in changes that added an extra performance boost in a lot of games.

Also, whether or not Xenia Canary is an unofficial fork or an officially endorsed one is also a cloudy subject. GitHub user by the name of Margen67 is a part of both the main Xenia project and Xenia Canary. The wiki of the main Xenia project also has links to the Xenia Canary wiki.

So the issue is that the main Xenia project associated itself with the Canary branch so strongly that this one fuckup of a single retard will impact the reputation of the main project. I just hope this can be cleared up and the development can continue because I'd hate to see this project die given how it's the only Xbox 360 emulator worth a damn.

Remember, all of this was caused by a single retard on a fork branch of the main project and he does not represent the entire project nor it's fork.

It's one thing to shut out piracy discussions on their official platforms, obviously developing emulation tools leaves you on shaky grounds legally and having a Discord full of people passing .isos around is a lightning rod for C&Ds, but it takes an incredibly exceptional kind of individual to actually give a shit about what people do with it outside their walls. Just put a statement on your website saying it's for homebrew and that you don't condone piracy or whatever so you have plausible deniability if Microsoft get pissy about it, and stop this gay fucking posturing.

He actually did submit a pull request to lower the tone from 4096hz to 60hz and merge it (i guess they have it set so no one has to review them to be merged, which would have prevented this whole thing)
