Xbox 360 R.I.P thread - Go gently into the good night my friend

^ Was that one an old post? I can't find the original.

Rockstar re-released Bully: Scolarship Edition for the XBox 360 recently and it is indeed compatible with XBox One.

The point still stands for GTA IV, though, at least for now.

My post was made a long long ass time ago, plus Rockstar for some reason were very close minded about the idea then again they are radio silent on many things outside of their main projects, and even then still very mum.

I was actually very pleased when they turned around and put them on the backwards compatibility list. The Xbox One actually runs a ton of these 360 games better than outside of an emulator.

They have a sale on right now where some of the Xbox 360 games that are compatible with the Xbox one are 5 bucks or less.

I think I will pick up a cheap later model 360 to mod like the original one. Has anyone done this?

I wonder how many games are now unplayable thanks to the 360 store shutdown. I thought about downloading a few of them, but I noticed I had a bunch of free games back when they were giving them away for free so I decided to download these first. Servers were so shitty I could only download a few and I haven't been able to download them to this day even tho I own them on my account. Thanks, Microsoft!
I do hope some of these games get ported to Steam or something, but I just know some of them will be forgotten and never be playable again without emulation or a jailbroken xbox. Shame, I prefer the pure console experience.

I had a 360 but didn't play it nor my PS3 that much, starting from that generation I was more into handhelds since it's where most of the best JRPGs were, and it remains that way today.

I wish Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey would get Switch or Steam ports already, those were why I got a 360, but I never finished either of them.

I don't know if it applies to the 360, but the PS3 was the last true console that wasn't a cheap PC. And it got fucked hard for it since developers would rather not work hard for better performance.
True, the difference between a 2006 ps3 game and a 2011 ps3 game was staggering

My og 2006 360 died after about 2 years, but those 2 years were some of the best times gaming I've ever had. Oblivion, l4d, nfs most wanted, project gotham, half life 2, dead rising, halo 3, saints row, gta 4, dead space, re5 mercenaries, prototype, marathon durandal, ass creed 2, fight night round 3, ninja gaiden 2. So many insanely good games that it was unreal.

After it died I got a ps3, and while it lasted a bit longer before breaking(about 4 years), it just wasn't the same. Didn't help that the controller felt cheaper and almost every game I had for it stuttered a lot. The only time I ever experienced motion sickness from a game was dragon age on ps3 lol. It was just a brief moment, but when I got to the first major city in that game after meeting morrigan I turned the camera and my stomach lurched.

I loved my 360. My ex pre ordered gta5 for me way back when. I gave it away to some kid years ago.

When games got released on both 360 and PS3, the PS3 port was always worse. It is simply a technically inferior console with pathetic amounts of memory for the time. Just read up the horror stories of what New Vegas devs had to do to even make their game work on PS3 at all, it's a miracle you can boot up the game on a PS3 today.
Figures that the only good games on that console were the ones specifically made for it, by devs who understood it's weaknesses. Everything else was played on PC or an Xbox.

My original Xbox lasted barely more than a year thanks to the RRoD. My second and current Xbox is still chugging after over 15 years, and if it does drop dead I will do my best to bring it back to life. Best console I ever had, along with a Nintendo DS.

I still have my 360 and I still use it semi-often. Still works like a charm mostly, since I made sure to somewhat take care of it. You can still download backwards compatible games on 360, you just need to buy them from the XBone storefront first and download them on it, then the game fill appear in your 360's download history

The only problem, and I have no idea why, my profile keeps disconnecting from Xbox Live randomly. Deleted and redownloaded my profile, reset my router, fucking tried everything but nothing fixes it. I assume it's some bullshit profile issue on Microsoft's side.
