Sell them off most likely. They need to at least make some money back, and the IPs and studios would have value to a discerning buyer. What the fuck will happen to all their IP's when they leave?

Bethesda games are notoriously worst on PlayStation consoles, aren't they? If Toddfield turns out to be a buggy POS on PS5, that'll certainly stir up the hive. Did they ever fix its framerate issues on PC?Those are the people that will continue to hate Starfield. They're your diehard Bethesda haters.
There's a much larger set of people hating on Starfield that I see on twitter, facebook and other social media, and it's just clear as day they've not played the game and are just parroting, and when you take a look into them they end up being Sony fanboys most of the time.
Now if they continue to hate on it, great. But I'd find it a lot funnier if they stopped. Even more funny than the people who are goin to say it's been "fixed" or "wasn't *that* bad" in 3 to 5 years.
The same that is happening right now. Nothing. What the fuck will happen to all their IP's when they leave?
What about them? Also, what about the millions of players that invested into the Xbox brand over the years?
The Xbox gaming brand is in shambles right now, and has been in shambles for awhile. The general consensus is that it has no games, and the few games it does have suck. Most of their fans have already moved on to either PC, Switch or (in a few cases), Sony. Its consoles have undersold more than they've oversold, and they've come in either dead last or second to last in every generation. Their brand ain't worth dick. This isn't like Zune or Mixer where MS was trying to chase a trend. Xbox has established itself as a gaming brand since its inception.
Worse than that, PS3 Skyrim is basically unplayable. It never got bug fixes and the framerate completely shits the bed the moment your save file hits a certain size which is impressive on account of how bad it ran out of the box. This was mostly due to the PS3's retarded system architecture. Bethesda only had 1 CPU core (equivalent to the 360's CPU) and less ram thanks to the PS3's split pool of system and GPU RAM.Bethesda games are notoriously worst on PlayStation consoles, aren't they? If Toddfield turns out to be a buggy POS on PS5, that'll certainly stir up the hive. Did they ever fix its framerate issues on PC?
I remember my friend showing me some Gears of War or Epic behind the scenes thing, and in it Cliff was randomly bragging about how he was banging an 18 year old while he was around 30.
It's because Microsoft went full suit in 2010 and drove away the gamers that made them succesful in the first place. Sales metrics be damned, the OG Xbox made an impact like the SNES, Dreamcast and PS1 did with a perfect consoles; fresh, innovative and with a flurry of unique exclusives that set it apart from the competition. Why are there only 25 million console owners? Why are they not sticking to Game Pass? Could it be that Microsoft's Starflop didn't move the needle for Game Pass even slightly despite the "updates" the game has received? The only reason they're in this situation is because of their incompetence.
I disagree entirely. Microsoft bought Activision purely for King. COD et al were a bonus that they could use as cash-generators on competitors platforms. This is not a new strategy, it's one they had great success with Minecraft. Remember, they paid Notch billions to buy a 3rd party game and made serious bank because of it.Microsoft bought these IP's in the hopes that they could compete with Nintendo. They thought those franchises would attract people to the Xbox platform. Don't act like Microsoft has reached this point deliberately. They are here because they failed miserably.
I wish Sega would've partnered with MS for more exclusives since they carried each other from the Dreamcast into the Xbox. But, MS chose Rare to have a mascot.Honestly i wish sega suceeded over microsoft. Microsoft only contribution to gaming was the xbox controller and halo thats pretty much it.
Two times MS tried to compete with Nintendo: The Kinect and buying Rare for mascot, family friendly titles. Now, Nintendo and MS are friendly competitors in name only.Microsoft bought these IP's in the hopes that they could compete with Nintendo.
DirectX long since predates Xbox and is more or less why all PC gaming has been on Windows for like 30 years. That's where the X in Xbox came from.Microsoft only contribution to gaming was the xbox controller and halo thats pretty much it.
remember how bad halo 2/3 on windows vista was? its crazy how bad microsofts pc ports of their own games was.icrosoft's attempts to actually brand and sell PC games themselves have all flopped.
thats true, although i'd at least like the option for my character to be a flirt. that would be a great middle ground, the better parts of The Outer Worlds was when you could joking say things to the women who'd then act disgusted with you. made it truely feel like the bruce campbell style badass i was trying to roleplay as.Romance in video games has gotten really fucking pathetic to me
so these assholes brought up a majority of american gaming studios for almost no fucking reason? they shit the bed just like they did with skype? It is (not) happening:
so they'll become the console version of Epic. the games release and then next year when they actually fix the fucking things they'll bring them to the public essentially? The same way every tv show that netflix gets the rights to suddenly becomes popular. As a result most of their new first-party games won't be seen on PS on day one because Xbox doesn't want to commit just yet.
microsoft didn't even try to let their studios release games either. starfield was literally done before they brought the studio, there isn't a single studio i can think of that they brought in the last 4 years that got to even release a game yet, besides grounded which obsedian had their b-team work on in blatant early access.. Instead of taking that money and investing in something organic and improving their own studios output.
by the time it releases on the ps5 they'll probably bet a GOTY edition with most of the bugs worked out and the dlc for free. they're guaranteed to have a better receptionafter a PS5 release lmao
the 360 was a fluke, once they exhausted the halo franchise it only sold well on inertia, the ps3 had a much better catalogue of games 2010 onwards.but it's certainly sad.
Gaming is dead for Xbox because they killed it. They killed themselves. The PS5 is selling at the same pace as the PS4 and PS3. The Nintendo Switch is flying off of shelves. PC and mobile gaming are fine. Xbox units don't sell because Microsoft got rid of physical media, exclusive games, and game ownership in general. There is nothing to play on modern Xbox consoles. Their ecosystem is an advertisement filled mess for Gamepass. Their biggest system seller was Starfield, one of the worst "must have" AAA titles of all time.the crazy part to me is between microsoft bowing out and sony hanging on by a thread it pretty much means gaming as an industry, outside of nintendo hasn't really lasted more than 40 years
Bro the Xbox hasn't had an actual system seller since... Halo Reach? Everything they've made since then has just been the same recycled four games over and over again: Halo, Fable, Forza and Gears of War. And what makes it extra pathetic is that each of those games (Not sure about Forza tho) lost their original developer and had their sequels outsourced to mediocre studios that failed to capture what the made the original developer's games so special in the first place. To me at least, it's basically confirmation that nothing on the slate is expected to be a system seller. Which...I guess isn't really surprising at this point, but it's certainly sad.
can't wait for the inevitable "thanks for beta testing xcucks" postsby the time it releases on the ps5 they'll probably bet a GOTY edition with most of the bugs worked out and the dlc for free. they're guaranteed to have a better reception
don't forget releasing a year earlier than ps3, if you wanted a next-gen upgrade the 360 was your only option, and even then the alternative was $599 with no games.the 360 was a fluke, once they exhausted the halo franchise it only sold well on inertia, the ps3 had a much better catalogue of games 2010 onwards.
Phil has been feeding us lies about the Xbox becoming the most powerful console with the best exclusives (a term he stretched to include Steam) since 2019. Halo Infinite came out 2 years later and it sucked. Two years later Microsoft buys Bethesda and we're promised a real AAA game... it was Starflop...Microsoft are not in this position due purely to incompetence, but to greed and impatience.
I think the fact that they thought the Game Pass was going to be a huge hit alone is proof enough of their incompetence. Does Microsoft seem like the company that's interested in "generating revenue"? Right now the gaming division is the third most expensive division that's more costly than the Windows division. At least with gamepass, they have a toe in the water where they can generate revenue, without betting the farm on it.
Phil Spencer will likely go down as having one of the single greatest public relations teams in media history. Everything he touches turns to dust. He is incompetent and a massive liar. But his image to the average Xbox gamer is bulletproof. Immune to criticism. A great leader.Phil has been feeding us lies about the Xbox becoming the most powerful console with the best exclusives (a term he stretched to include Steam) since 2019.
