So what killed Xbox in the end? Was it Xbox One? Shitty games? Phil Spencer?
Satya Nadella mandating the division at least try to recoup some of the A-B merger costs.

Maybe they shouldn't have purchased it in the first place if doing so not only will never cover its own costs but also makes the rest of your business totally unsustainable. Oh well...

Xbots are getting desperate :story:

Players will soon have more options for support when considering in-person repairs for the three Xbox Series X|S console options. On January 20, uBreakiFix by Asurion will become the first Xbox Authorized Service Provider to repair Xbox consoles at its nearly 700 participating store locations across the U.S. In-person Xbox console repairs were previously only possible through the Microsoft Store, which means players will now have even more ways to repair their consoles, separate from Microsoft’s own support channels. Players should check with their local uBreakiFix by Asurion store to confirm participation in this repairability program.

Additionally, replacement components for the three Xbox Series X|S console options are now available for purchase via the Microsoft Store and replacement console parts are also now available for purchase online via the Microsoft Repair Hub on iFixit. With the purchase of replacement components previously limited to controller parts and only available through the Microsoft Store, these additional repair options allow players to choose the repairability solution that works best for them, even if their console is out-of-warranty.

Also there's two Xbox threads and frankly I don't know which one to post this in

Wasn't just one thing that killed Xbox, but a series of fuck ups and short sightedness
1. Not using the 360 era when they were on top to build up there first party studio
2. Kinect push, it had a good 2 years on the 360 then the fad was dead, yet MS didn't get the message and went all in with it on the Xbone, leading it to costing more and being weaker than the PS4
3. Bad Press from Xbone, even when they backpaddled on DRM, the trust was gone
4. Xbone had too few first party games, and had massive misfires likes Crackdown 3
5. Gears and Halo the once the big Xbox ips, have been mismanaged and no longer have the brand power they once did. Even 10 years ago would be unthinkable a Knuckles TV show would do far better than a Halo one, but now is reality.
6. Xbox Series consoles having a lack of first party games until late 2023, even when compared to Playstation first party output which was weak it's self.
7. BC became a bigger deal with digital ownership, made it harder for someone to move from PS4 to Xbox Series.

Gamepass is a weird one, because while it hasn't help Xbox turn things around, I think without it the heads of MS would have closed down or sold off Xbox years ago.

Xbox becoming a 3rd party publisher is really the only thing they can do at this point, with everything they bought they have a good number of ips people care about, and if they are going to keep pushing Gamepass on cloud, then having alt revenue streams to cover the cost of development of the games is needed.

Just in case there was any doubt that Microsoft wouldn't release new hardware for 10th gen

Sucks that the consoles I once grew up playing with in middle and high school is now being stomped out by the retards and jeets running the show, but such is life.

So, what's the next cope gonna be?
Is it still "Microsoft is playing the long game, they're so big! GamePass!"

So, essentially, they went on a years-long spending spree to buy a bunch of studios to try to sell Xbox hardware and it made fuck all difference so the entire Xbox experiment is going to just end up being Microsoft Games Studios publishing their stuff on other platforms.

It might work. Sega became a publisher after the Dreamcast failed and they are doing great now with multiple profitable franchises.

The only thing that would be up for debate would be the future of Gamepass on other platforms. Are Sony and Nintendo going to be ok with you buying their console but then buying fuck all of their games because you are happy enough to just sub to Gamepass? MS are making decent money off Gamepass now but if it ends up PC-only then it's fucked.

What's telling is that Lego Horizon Adventures received a Switch port, but not an Xbox port. Sony's forced exclusive got a Nintendo port before Xbox would even touch it. As draconian as Sony/Nintendo can be, they are aware that exclusives are incentives to buy their platforms/consoles. MGS may as well be a third party publisher if they're just passing out their major exclusives to PlayStation consoles.

It's like Apple during the 1990's, except there will be no messiah figure for Xbox this time around. Good riddance.

I honestly think Microsoft is going to do mostly fuck all with all their franchises. They bought half the IPs in the industry and still struggle to release more than a couple of games each year.
Those IPs are now just assets so that nobody else can use them.
