Xbox Thread (Like/Hate) - Mainly focusing on the lackluster exclusives, weak points, or strong points of Xbox consoles

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
It's remarkable that gaming went mainstream and seemingly turned normies into complete faggots. Seriously, the amount of people I see who don't even play games getting excited or upset about Xbox games on Playstation is so sad.
nah, normies were always faggots, that's why everything that becomes mainstream turns to shit, not the other way around.

What's more embarrassing?

  • Microsoft adding the PS logo to their showcases
  • Sony fans celebrating the release of mediocre Xbox games on their platform due to lack of first party software, or
  • Modern day console gamers thinking everything is fine and better than ever?
Answers on a postcard.
The only people who are still playing on consoles at this point are too fucking retarded for PC gaming.

Every time I check this thread or read new information about Xbox the brand just continues to get shittier and shittier. Are they trying to wreck themselves at this point or are the people in charge actually such incompetent retards? Their brand is going to shit and their response is to focus on allegedly banning people permanently (instead of giving a temporary ban or warning at first) for using VPNs (if that really is all that person did to get banned), putting their biggest series out for the main competing platform, and actually putting resources into DEI slop games that no one asked for and looks like they're guaranteed to flop? Not to mention intentionally ruining all of their biggest franchises? Who the fuck would want to play the latest Fable (if that piece of shit actually even gets released) with such an ugly and unappealing main character?

I mean Spencer himself pretty much said it in that one interview. They gave up. Ever since the Xbone reveal they've been an incompetent circus with shit management who can't figure out what they wanna do and they change strategy every few years.

With the amount of IPs they have now they should pretty much own the entire industry, but they just can't get out of their own way.

It's just sad to see this brand go to shit so badly. I remember Xbox starting to go downhill around 2010 when they rebranded the Xbox 360 and began to focus more resources on Kinect instead of the reasons people actually played Xbox and then after that was mostly constant bad decisions when it came to the Xbox One and beyond. At least there were some good games mixed in here and there during those years. Now Xbox is all shit with nothing good about it. People even put with bullshit from the Xbox 360 years such as the original hardware being total garbage that would RROD and even scratch the games themselves to the point where they were unplayable because of how many good titles there were back then (not to mention how addictive Xbox Live was).

So what killed Xbox in the end? Was it Xbox One? Shitty games? Phil Spencer?
1:Killing/Selling off/Spinning off studios like crazy
They killed off Twisted Pixel, Lionhead, and Press play. Spun off Bungie. Press Play staff went on to found Ghost Ship which made Deep Rock Galactic. Funnily enough DRG was an idea incubated under Press Play and Microsoft. Microsoft thought it was a good idea to put up the greenlighting of their next project to a public vote. The winner went on to become some awful survival PUBG clone nobody played while the Runner ups became DRG and Trailmakers. As usual Microshit is incapable of discerning good ideas from trend chasing shit
2: Revealing games way too early then cancelling.
They announced Scalebound in like 2015 when Platinum Games worship was at its zenith then cancelled it without providing a good reason why, then Phantom Dust. Yet proceeded on shit like Crackdown 3
3: Set themselves up for failure by not capitalizing on advantages from the 360 gen.
During the 360 gen it was THE place for Indie games with stuff like Summer Of Arcade and Winter Of Arcade. You had stuff like Super Meat Boy, Shadow Complex, and Limbo. Instead of strengthening ties and making a subpublisher that helped indies make unique games they fumbled that shit hard.
4: Complete stupidity during the launch period of XBONE
People seem to always forget. The XBONE in its launch period had objectively better games than the PS4 and they fumbled it horribly through both horrid PR and lack of follow-through. They had Titanfall, Killer Instinct which they retardedly refuse to make a sequel to, D4, and Ryse. PS4 had Knack and........uh Hohokum? Microshaft let EA snatch up Respawn after funding TF1 just like they let EA snatch up Bioware after funding Mass Effect

TL;DR:

The real fascinating/worrying part about all this for me is the XBox brand is even worse off than the Playstation right now.

As someone who's watched with horror as the Sony brand hit a new peak with PS4 and then slowly eat itself alive with DEI and brand shilling I'm kinda perversely impressed with MS. You have to actively WORK to fuck up that bad.

Xbox consoles phased out and Xbox degraded to an emulator app on PC.

Microsoft is working hard to integrate Xbox and Windows game development more closely into the future. Windows Central understands that traditional Win32 will be the preferred development environment for the next mainline Xbox consoles, with Xbox One/Series X|S "ERA" environment gradually phased out. Where that leaves our existing library of Xbox ERA games remains to be seen, but it seems emulation is one avenue Microsoft is exploring for backward compatibility and game preservation.

Will that allow those games to run on Windows devices like Kennan and the ROG Ally, or any average gaming PC, though? It's hard to say, because there are some legal hurdles contractually about exactly what Microsoft is allowed to do with third-party titles in its store.

We've asked Microsoft to comment on the above, but things are certainly getting interesting here, either way.

2010 when they rebranded the Xbox 360 and began to focus more resources on Kinect instead of the reasons people actually played Xbox
Xbox wanted to be the everybody console like the Playstation was, but that really wasn't their brand at all. Early Xbox had the young adult male basically locked down going into the 360 and they threw it all away because they wanted to be Playstation. Which is crazy because young adult male is the vast majority of console gamers, 360 Xbox onward is the story of a console winning and then doing everything possible to squander it. Really incredible.

Very incredible. Never seen a company have so much momentum just die in one day. Alot of us who had 360s were ready to go preorder the XBone as soon as preorders were available. All M$ had to do is show us the new console without consumer hostile features, new Halo gameplay, a proper Gears of War, and a few other hit franchises. Instead, we got the DRM machine, some tv features, and a teaser for a Halo game that really didn’t feature Masterchief for most of the game. Atleast that’s what i read and saw in a Halo 5 review.

Pure fucking arrogance from M$.

Call me a fanboy, but I never understood the complaint of the Xbox 360 catering to a general audience (at least up until they followed the motion control craze after the Wii.) I noticed a chance in marketing video games to potential consumers from the 90s up to the mid 00s. Innuendos and lax, IDGAF into more corporate, age appropriate ads. I think Sony subverted that changing trend with their PS3 and PSP.
