While the Blender video became a huge scandal overseas, there was another video that contributed to his arrest. It was a video of a cat that he tortured for 36 HOURS.
Now you may think that since he was arrested things should be all well and good, except it's NOT. He wasn't arrested for animal cruelty but because what he did had a bad influence on the web. There's literally no law in China against somebody from doing so, therefore the police just take him in for "Picking quarrels and provoking trouble".
Xu Zhihui was awarded the "Funan Good People" special award in July 2022 (Which is somewhere around a year before the cat incident happened), and the Funan Civilization Office issued an announcement on May 5 to cancel the title. He has remained active since the incident and has continued to post food and life-related videos on YouTube recently, with the most recent update on May 17th.
He also made this half-assed apology on Weibo (Twitter-like Chinese social media app)
The only thing Xu learned from this is that if animal torture doesn't receive widespread attention he can easily get away with things. Not only that, the backlash he received for his torture videos indirectly caused the creation of a new group called "JACK LATIAO CULT". This was one of the big reasons he was able to continue his endeavors
Before he was caught he was running a website called AITERS ( Alliance of Cat Enthusiasts, Taiwan & English-speaking Regions) which was a cat torture group disguised as an animal support group
There's no archive of the website unfortunately but we can get a slight glimpse of it through a Twitter banner
The reason why I'm pointing this out is that after he was released from prison he decided to rebrand his website and named it Aimaotv/Lovcat/爱猫社区. The website looks identically to the Twitter banner meaning it's 100% his
The website now brands itself as a "Global Cat Discussion Community and Rescue Charity". There's nothing suspicious on the website UNTIL you go to the support page (Their website is protected by Cloudflare and due to their protection archive websites work like shit). In it, there are requirements to join their secret group which is filming yourself murdering a cat
You can see that they're not outright telling you to kill, they're using these keywords in order to disguise themselves, but it's very obvious to anyone what they actually want
Their website is utilizing Web3 technology in order to pass around the videos of their killings. The support page includes a guide to installing and connecting to their IPFS server

This group came to worldwide attention after a person from their telegram group put a bounty on a cat from the Internet meme "Mr. Fresh"
Mr.Fresh is one of many cats that became popular due to a Chinese app called 哈啰街猫 or "Hello Street Cat"
哈啰街猫 or "Hello Street Cat" is an app developed by Guangxi Hachong Network Technology Co., Ltd. and launched in April 2023. This app strives to facilitate the feeding of stray cats, by the use of various "Intelligent Stray Cat Management Houses", which can record and stream video as well as dispense kibble, treats every time a user donates through the "Hello Street Cat" app. The main goals of this program are to Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR), feed strays, and encourage adoption.
The zoosadist groups are now using this app in order to plan their cat murders

Another incident that received a lot of attention was their "Hundred Cats Killing Competition"
Here's how their group looked like during this "competition"
Thankfully they didn't manage to kill a hundred cats (as seen by their results screenshot below) but they still did killed a lot of cats during that timeframe
Xu is not the only person involved in this market, far from it. He's just a part of the ever-growing problem in China with zoosadism. Several groups have similar irrational hatred against our feline friends and they're all operating in China. These groups talk to each other through Telegram or QQ (The most popular Chinese messaging app owned by Tencent)
For example: Xu was involved with a telegram channel called "Ban Cats Literary Society - National Cat Ban"/禁猫文学社‖全国禁猫.

The group was dedicated to the global cat ban, sharing videos and images and also live broadcasting streams of cats being killed. While the group has been terminated following outrage at Xu's cat blender video, there are still partial archives of the channel on the Internet, which includes an image of a burned cat that was shared in this channel

What they do is they first show their newly acquired victim and then start taunting onlookers about what they're gonna do to him which makes people concerned and outraged. They absolutely love the public reaction people have to their videos which is one of the other reasons why they keep doing itTo all in the channel:

What makes this partially awful is that they also attempt to scam people trying to stop them, like "You either send me money or this cat will be murdered right before your eyes"
What's even worse is that some of the people involved in these groups are from rich and powerful families. A great example of this is LiuYi 刘
Liu Yi, a 17-year-old man from Chengdu, is known to have tortured and killed 5 cats. His mother Liu Ya, is the general manager of the Financial Interbank Department of the Sichuan Branch of the Bank of Communications. She helped her son commit crimes, assisted in purchasing or adopting cats, disposed of the bodies of the abused cats (randomly discarded at the entrance of the community or store), brutally tortured and killed the adopted cats, and shot a video to post on the Internet to attract like-minded torturers. After community volunteers came to communicate with people, but to no avail, his son continued to call the rescuer and asked to adopt the cat. His mother sent out volunteers on the pretext that her son might have mania, his grandmother also helped fake cat adoptions, and his father spent money to suppress people who spoke out online.
The censorship that his family pulled off was so bad that the Chinese activists had to seek help overseas to spread information about him
What's even crazier is that cat tortures who participate in various chat groups are all extremely hateful towards their own president and their own country.

You would think that making these kinds of comments toward their own establishment would cause some kind of consequence but NO, IN FACT, the people who report their activities are the ones who get visits from police due to the fact that their journalism is causing China to look bad
Due to China not having any laws to protect animals and a complete lack of action from the Chinese police cat tortures attract younger people for money reasons. They tell them about the possibility of making huge stacks with little to no consequence even if they get caught and what's even more saddening is that IT WORKS
