An oldie but a goodie. Abusers sometimes post ridiculous things in chat to troll spies, but this is too good not to be true.

The Chinese government has arranged to meet with Feline Guardians volunteers from Chile! I was expecting the CCP to completely ignore the protests arranged by FG. If they did respond, I thought they would claim FG are spreading wild anti-China rumors. After all, that's what the abusers want the CCP to believe...
So happy to hear some good news. Is this meant to be public information? I haven't seen any info about it on FG.

I’m part of a volunteer group associated with Feline Guardians. We monitor their Telegram groups to collect evidence and stay up to date on what the abusers are planning. (P.S. If you want to join, PM me)
I thought the joining requirements were to film the "loving" of a cat with your name and ID?
Is the group now 招财笑传之抽抽背?
They seem to have purged a lot of members, now it's down to 125 members, unlike the 300ish in your screenshots.
I've been requesting entry for a while but they've been ignoring me. (I don't know how to PM, I only just made the account now, do I have to wait some time before I have PM privileges? Help a noob out please)

I've found another telegram group that may or may not be related to them: https://t.me/lovecatcommunity
It's where I also learned about their current trend of using ethylene glycol.

Do you think the cat torturer group have any motivations beyond just torturing cats for pleasure and sale of videos?
One of their group names earlier was "lovcat8964" or something along those lines. The "8964" was definitely there though, referencing 1989 June 4th which is the Tiananmen square massacre. They also post pictures of dead cats next to pictures of Xi Jinping. Is this an elaborate effort to tarnish the reputation of the CCP?

I'm pretty sure it is - I think it was posted as an Instagram story so it might not be visible any more (?)

My screenshots are from earlier this year. I wanted to find ones representative of the group's activities to provide a general overview, because there is not much information in the thread so far.

The group purge happened only a few days ago. It's much more recent. Lots of abuse consumers have also been thrown out of the old group and can't get back in. They've now created smaller chatrooms to commiserate and/or discuss their hobby.

The core group is the one that asks you to film a torture video to join. Lots of the abusers listed on FG's site hang out there; it's like an exclusive club for the most prolific and... popular producers. The average people who watch this shit and commit "low-level" acts of cruelty such as poisoning local cats, stick to the public group - the same one that just purged of half its members. The admins are very suspicious of people spying on them.

Do you think the cat torturer group have any motivations beyond just torturing cats for pleasure and sale of videos?

I don't think it's a CCP operation - those pictures of Xi with cats are simply edgy jokes by the abusers. There are no legitimate political reasons to commit extreme acts of violence like the abusers are doing. Culling a stray animal population is one thing, torturing kittens is something else. The CCP might not care about animal rights but it knows that this is a PR nightmare.

Now I’m wondering, did anything come of this? I’m pretty surprised the CCP agreed to meet with some non-Native animal rights advocates, so I’m pretty curious as to how it went down.

It makes some sense when you take into account that China is still recovering from a one two punch of Wolf Warrior diplomacy and BRI backlash on the international stage. Their soft power is hurting at the moment so if they can take something they can spin to at least a small W they'll at least explore it.

They have a Twitter account now

This kinda pokes a hole in the theory that they all stay off of Twitter and have no idea about the conversations concerning them on "western" social media. Phaedra is one of the most active Twitter profiles calling them out and bringing awareness to the situation, and they seem to be at least slightly aware of her.

Did this yield any fruit? This seems to be the best way to actually solve this issue. Learning who these people are is definitely helpful, especially in China where shame can be more significant than it is in the West (or so I'm told), but truly stopping it will need a law making this illegal. Is there a way we can help more with this side of it?
It seems like people in "right wing" circles just found out about this in the last couple days
What really brought it to light around the world is that these sickos put money on whoever could get a famous meme cat in China called Mr. Fresh, who is even popular on the cat side of YouTube: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/mr-fresh-bounty

That really put this in the spotlight for everybody.

Hi there,
This doesn't seem to violate any rules I found so I will give it a shot.

Me and my friend are working on an ad campaign to raise awareness about the cat torture rings in China and to push for animal cruelty laws there.
I posted awhile ago on reddit, got a lot of positive responses and someone suggested I take it to kiwifarms. I understand if people are skeptical for someone to pop up here and immediately ask for donations. That is fine. You can talk to the lady organizing the ad campaign here yourself if you have questions. She also posts updates on the Gofundme fairly regularly. The more people help, the more we can reach. The goal is to get the ad in an airport where there are many international travelers.

Note: Feline Guardians does NOT accept donations. This ad campaign is not affiliated with FG and we are acting as individuals. There is a lot of stuff you can do to help for free here. https://www.felineguardians.org/take-action

Thanks

I'm considering going to a protest that felineguardians has planned near where I live because of how sick this whole thing makes me. I've never been to a protest before but I feel that I need to do something more than just sit on my ass and get angry. What do you guys think?

Doubleposting for clarity so this guide can be referenced on its own in the future.

How to help:
(adapted from https://www.felineguardians.org/take-action)
The cat torture gang is now global. They operate in the open with impunity. It is false to say that the Chinese internet does not know what goes on on the western internet considering how frequently abuser accounts on Twitter pop up to mock activists. The Chinese government actually does care about how the rest of the world perceives them. Their soft power will take a major hit once their story blows up and they become synonymous with sick fucks who torture cats. The goal of activism right now is to name and shame abusers, report them to their work and school and to pressure the Chinese government to pass animal cruelty laws so this will stop.

Here are some things you can do to help:
1. Follow Feline Guardians on IG , twitter or reddit. This is a good way to stay up to date and show strength in numbers. FG is active in dozens of countries now, so your country probably has its own chapter. https://www.felineguardians.org/home/worldwide
2. Share posters and postcards. Available here in multiple languages.https://www.felineguardians.org/take-action/posters-postcards/
Post them on your socials, send them to Chinese or domestic government officials, print them out and post them locally.
3. Request media coverage. Basic templates in multiple languages here. Contact any local or national media outlet you know. Contact influencers.
4. Contact your representative. https://www.felineguardians.org/take-action/contact-US-representatives
4. Email Chinese authorities. Emails available here.
5. Talk to people directly about it in real life. Yes it is a very heavy topic but engaging people face to face makes it seem more "real." Easy to do if someone brings up China on their own.

Don't give up or lose hope. We are in this for the long haul but change is ineveitable.

I stumbled on this maybe like 6 months back when Phaedra and some other people on Twitter and some reddit anti-cruelty groups were talking about it. From my recollection (which is a bit foggy) those cage videos come from some old Japanese guy from the countryside who captured cats in traps like this and tortured them with boiling water, fire, etc. and then posted said videos to the internet. He's long since been exposed and charged by Japanese authorities (I think he only got a small fine, unfortunately); but to my knowledge all of these videos are old. Some of the Chinese cat abuse fags on Twitter though will lionize him though and call him something like "old Uncle Kaz."

I wish this topic received as much attention as the monkey torture rings, I hardly see any of this cat torture outrage on news websites. I suppose a lot of this stuff never leaves the Chinese side of the internet due to differences in social networks and language. How would someone non chinese even infiltrate their groups!? Monkey torture groups were easy to attack because they're mostly western people doing that shit. China has shown that they can dismantle an industry very quickly, like when they made bitcoin farming illegal. Now if only animal cruelty laws were implemented there, that would be something.
