you are correct if you assume that financial interests are the only thing that exists and exercises power in the world
but that is not the case. political interests exist, and they are (arguably) more powerful than financial interests. those don't give a fuck about his record sales, those only care about his possible social or political influence.
"someone whose opinions were never that influential" kanye is (or used to be) a bit of a living legend among american blacks, and his word would have been very influential in that population group. but associating with a gay jew, a mexican nazi, and making asinine netanyahu jokes while wearing a gimp mask on alex jones' crackpot show kinda killed whatever credibility he might have had.

Kanye just filed his paperwork with the FEC to make the campaign official. It's *a little* short on details.
(I don't know what's up with the attempted redactions on the third page, I got these images from another forum. The info scribbled out appears to be the same as what's in the other sections unredacted)
All filings for 'Kanye 2020':
EDIT: they're using the same campaign org formed for the 2020 election when he also "ran" for President. The second link above is for all of 'Kanye 2020"'s FEC filings. Their last quarterly was filed mid-October for the quarter ending September and shows $371,150 cash on hand. Kanye loaned his campaign $250k and repaid himself prior to this quarter being reported. Do you know for sure if that is what this paperwork does? I saw Posobiec post it saying this is relating to his last campaign but not the official filing for a new campaign:
“BREAKING FIRST ON POSO: In a move that shows Ye, (formerly known as Kanye West) is building out a political operation, the FEC just received an update to his 2020 campaign committee. This type of work is necessary before any potential 2024 bid”

I believe it's for 2024 and the purpose of the filing is to update the campaign contact info by adding Patrick Krason. Typically a politician would use the same organization for every campaign due to the costs involved with setting it up. They generally don't include a year in the name like Kanye did to avoid this confusion.
