Hypothetical scenario: You are the grim reaper. You have access to a room filled with levers, and each lever belongs to a person. Currently, all levers are in the middle. If you flip the lever up, that person will live to the age of 125. If you flip the lever down, that person will never be born. Extending someone's life or making them not exist will not have any effect on whether other people exist or when they are born, however, it can have an effect on when they die. If a person's life is extended, they will not be immortal or invincible, however, any event that will kill them before the age of 125 will not happen. For example, if someone tried to murder a person with an extended life, they won't be able to attempt the murder. Therefore, someone with an extended life will have effects beyond just what they would do if they lived longer. Which levers do you push up, pull down, and leave alone?

How much help is that then? It would be helpful for some programmers and scientists and writers, if they're hard to replace, but people that old make the demographic crisis worse. Nursing homes and medical care take up huge personnel resources, and are an economic drain.
