You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

The fact I cannot remember the full names or even a first or last name of very influential people from my childhood. A very influential teacher I had in late elementary school for a single year who was a giant civil war nerd, and I really loved her class. The best teacher I've ever had in my life and I can't remember her name. She's just one of many. She would quiz us on battle tactics and terrain advantage she was so great.

Hi, i am leftist, but before i tell you my dogshit opinion this are my pronouns, my mental illnesses, the drugs i take (psychiatric and recreational), my disturbing fetishes and my anecdotes of all the times i was bullied in school. Oh, and also i hate my family, anyway, this is why people like me should make policy decisions...

When they only understand things by making analogies to movie scenes, especially if it's superhero shit or harry potter. Someone compared Christ to Iron Man and I had no idea whether to laugh or die on the inside.
I swipe left on anyone that says they like Marvel movies. I'm middle-aged and I don't date younger.

If your taste consists primarily of Marvel movies, we have nothing to fucking talk about because you have nothing useful or meaningful to say to me.

I feel like eventually we're going to need to have a discussion on how political infotainment shows and the 24/7 news media has so throughly rotted people's brains that they genuinely cannot process anything unless it's fed through a partisan binary matrix.
I hate what it's done to me. I get that at this point we've all been hammered with the idea that the personal is political, and nothing can't be political.

I can't enjoy new entertainment anymore, because I'm looking at it just waiting for whatever stupid axe of current-year political nonsense falls and takes me right out of the story.

Don't get me started on that shit where not wanting to get involved with politics is somehow a privilege. These fucktards act like I can do something about it beyond voting, as if i thought marching in protests and scrawling swastikas on Teslas is somehow productive. I'm a small human being with no political influence, and I'm tired of people actively attempting to keep me from escaping politics even for a few fucking minutes.

"Just join da trades!11!" being touted as a panacea to the job crisis. If it worked out for you, great, now be honest and tell 'em about the 2-4 years you spent making less than a McDick's wagie, the 50 carcinogens you've inhaled on the job, and the fact that you have to work around 40-something divorced alcoholics that gossip like 13 year old girls.

I'm not even saying don't do it, I'm saying there's a lot of drawbacks no one tells you about, and it's not gonna be a good fit for a lot of people.

People's perception of religion or church-goers in general are interesting for lack of a better word. I once carpooled to a secular event with two people who were religious. When I told a friend about the trip and who I carpooled with, they reacted as if I rode with a serial killer and axe murderer even though I ended up party to some interesting conversation and debate going to and from our destination.
Your friend should get help.
But atleast they did not immediately assume they were pedofiles, like I see people do online...
I have a site that allowed me to create a particular user id with a punctuation mark in it. For whatever reason, it now considers that character illegal and the only way I can log in now is by requesting a forgotten password link each time I log in. If you're going to disallow certain characters, give people a chance to fix/replace them before you outright declare them illegal.
I feel for you. I have a similar issue - my (created in high school) gmail has dots between words (think name.of.waifu), and a store had allowed me to make an account with it, and spams me with offers just fine, but I cannot login into account as it shows an error (and deleting dots shows "no account associated"), and there are no alternative ways.

Reminds me: when people make analogies that don't actually help. "It weighs more than 20 elephants" nigger I don't even really know how heavy one elephant is, let alone 20.

"Just go get a apprenticeship with a local union! Don't go through trade school"

You can score well on the math tests, but the interview with 6 old guys is what really matters and they want people who already have experience and that means trade school. Yes, the ranked and scored interview where they ask basic questions and is a shit test matters more than how you do on math exams. They'll only consider the top 10% in the interview by the way. I'm not trying to be a doomer but the trades advice ticks me off a bit because the reality is far different. I'm not saying don't try but you're probably going to have to try a few times if you've never been to trade school and have no experience. Even for a basic apprenticeship paying $16 an hour.

You can't get a job without experience; college doesn't GIVE you experience. How do you get experience? GET A JOB. Should be like a lottery program where you take an apprenticeship for a chance to get a job in your field.
