Until I see Halo and Forza on the PS4 they can shut right up about "playing games where you want them"
It's ok to be exclusive, just own up to it.

“Fuck epic”/“fuck loot boxes”/“fuck mtxs”/“fuck gaas” are basically the r/gaming equivalents of “orange man bad” or “fuck nazis” at this point, in that people just agree with these sentiments because they feel obligated to, not because they genuinely believe in them
Edit: I’m not saying these things are good, I’m saying mob mentality isn’t either
Double edit: of course i fucking hate lootboxes and epic, because i’m a stubborn offline-loving hermit, not because YongYea told me to
I don’t defend predatory shit like lootboxes or Epic’s exclusivity deals, I just hate the spastic circle jerkers who oppose these things because some fat, glasses wearing fuck on Youtube said they should, instead of taking the time to form their own opinion. This is 100% true, anytime ANY mtxs come up everyone loses their minds and boycotts a game. It could do basically nothing and if you say that, people will gang up on you and call you a shill for having an opinion because you have a higher tolerance for grinding or you don't personally believe that the mtx takes anything away from you. If you're fine with DLC, as long as its good, you're killing the gayeming industry and YOU'RE the problem. You can't even tolerate these things on any level without getting called out, you just have to yell at EA and pray that video games die so it can arise like a phoenix or some shit like back in video game crash in the 80s.
The youtube circlejerks around this attitude is obnoxious, YongYea will talk for 10+ minutes explaining the same shit in the same boring tone. Jim Sterling will use his high pitched voice to mock anything he doesn't like, and people just listen because they want to be told they're right so the video game industry can just burn. It's just all obnoxious bullshit and is no different then the "With us or against us" mentality.

Take DMC5, I grew to accept the game, despite its MTXs because everyone, even MTX haters like YongYea, Angry Joe, and Sterling said that the orb drops are balanced, excessive amounts of orbs are unneeded for smooth gameplay, and the game can be played offline without having to worry about any in-game SP content being locked behind an online-only paywall.
I didn’t get MK11 because the though of all unlocks being tied to the internet bothered me and I don’t like Epic because they predatorily gain exclusives by buying the exclusivity rights to games that were clearly meant for GoG and Steam a few months before release, without warning those who’ve preordered it in advance, which is especially difficult for kickstarter games Shenmue 3 where the backers are currently not allowed to get refunds on their PC ports.
I did NOT approve of or oppose these things because r/gaming or ReviewFatUSA told me to
Pretty much, I hate lootboxes, excessive mtxs, and always online games, and perhaps even many online games period because I’m a hermit who still games the same way I did in 2011, not because REEEEera, r/gaming, and the Jim Sterling subreddit informed me that these are the correct opinionsI don't like lootboxes in actual paid games, I don't care about f2p stuff personally. Lootboxes in paid games are dumb because the "cost" of being f2p is you have to accept actual free to play people, this is literally having your cake and eating it too. That is my personal opinion, I want paid games to make GOOD DLC with actual content in them or cheap skins because the artists had nothing to do while waiting for the programmers to actually do stuff, to me that is reasonable and if I like the game it means I can play more of that game which to me is an acceptable deal.
Minor MTXs like in DMC5 also don't bother me, but I remember so many people "Canceling their preorders" and "boycott DMC5, RISE UP" going on. Epic is just a death touch to anything and absolutely breaks kickstarters which makes me sad because Kickstarter games that actually come out well come out REALLY well, and stunts like Shenmue 3 just completely destroy any hope that we'll see stories like that again alongside the more common kickstarter story that everyone already knows. Fuck Epic.
I, like you, can have these opinions without youtubers and reddit telling me these things. The mob mentaility of certain sections of the gaming community is just absolutely re.tarded if you even remotely disagree with the narrative.
Can you explain what you mean? Because the only thing I remember about Metal Gear Survive is that it sucked and a rogue developer had an easter egg in the game that basically said "Fuck you Konami, Kojima is the best".
What part? The disingenuous criticism and outright lying sold by the three biggest reviewers at the time? The pedestal that fanboys put kojima on but as soon as something's wrong it's never his fault? Konami somehow being expected not to do something with a popular ip they have? Or what about the scores of people criticizing Survive for things MGSV did and just ignored? What about the people asking someone why they hate it, and when they say "they got rid of kojima" and not because they actually played it?Can you explain
I see what you mean, I definitely get this from the DMC fanbase as well, with autists screeching about DmC and calling it the worst game in the series (that includes DMC2’s unplayable ass in their minds) because r/gaming told them that it is, not because they actually experienced the bad writing, bad artstyle, color coded enemies, lack of a lock on system, dumbass camera destruction sections, etc themselves. What part? I'm not defending Survive beyond it being it's own thing. It's a perfectly decent game. I'd give it a 6 or 7. Serviceable but not outstanding. I wouldn't say it's a godless dumpster fire.
Anyway, get rid of platform exclusivity and then we'll talk, Microsoft.
I like how the dude that just purchased multiple prominent 3rd party developers (Ninja theory, Obsidian..etc) and is in the process of making them %100 MS exclusive for life is dumping on other companies for doing the exact same thing.Until I see Halo and Forza on the PS4 they can shut right up about "playing games where you want them"

If you take all the different platforms and stores and scrunch them all into one big pie chart, I bet that you're gonna find that the XBox+MS Store combo is dead last, that's why they're going full-PR blitz now: they need to make up the ground on Sony/Steam..etc, and they're doing it by essentially conceding this generation's race to them, and building up good will to get as good a launch as possible for their next console, just like Sony had to do the same when launching the PS4.
It's a very predictable pattern and I find it weird how ppl still fall for it.
Microsoft: How do you do, fellow gamers, isn't owning games great?
Everyone else: Sure is, that's why we don't use your "platform" lmao
