It could do basically nothing and if you say that, people will gang up on you and call you a shill for having an opinion because you have a higher tolerance for grinding or you don't personally believe that the mtx takes anything away from you. If you're fine with DLC, as long as its good, you're killing the gayeming industry and YOU'RE the problem. You can't even tolerate these things on any level without getting called out, you just have to yell at EA and pray that video games die so it can arise like a phoenix or some shit like back in video game crash in the 80s.

I didn’t get MK11 because the though of all unlocks being tied to the internet bothered me and I don’t like Epic because they predatorily gain exclusives by buying the exclusivity rights to games that were clearly meant for GoG and Steam a few months before release, without warning those who’ve preordered it in advance, which is especially difficult for kickstarter games Shenmue 3 where the backers are currently not allowed to get refunds on their PC ports.

I don't like lootboxes in actual paid games, I don't care about f2p stuff personally. Lootboxes in paid games are dumb because the "cost" of being f2p is you have to accept actual free to play people, this is literally having your cake and eating it too. That is my personal opinion, I want paid games to make GOOD DLC with actual content in them or cheap skins because the artists had nothing to do while waiting for the programmers to actually do stuff, to me that is reasonable and if I like the game it means I can play more of that game which to me is an acceptable deal.

Minor MTXs like in DMC5 also don't bother me, but I remember so many people "Canceling their preorders" and "boycott DMC5, RISE UP" going on. Epic is just a death touch to anything and absolutely breaks kickstarters which makes me sad because Kickstarter games that actually come out well come out REALLY well, and stunts like Shenmue 3 just completely destroy any hope that we'll see stories like that again alongside the more common kickstarter story that everyone already knows. I see what you mean, I definitely get this from the DMC fanbase as well, with autists screeching about DmC and calling it the worst game in the series (that includes DMC2’s unplayable ass in their minds) because r/gaming told them that it is, not because they actually experienced the bad writing, bad artstyle, color coded enemies, lack of a lock on system, dumbass camera destruction sections, etc themselves.

I like how the dude that just purchased multiple prominent 3rd party developers (Ninja theory, Obsidian..etc) and is in the process of making them %100 MS exclusive for life is dumping on other companies for doing the exact same thing.

If you take all the different platforms and stores and scrunch them all into one big pie chart, I bet that you're gonna find that the XBox+MS Store combo is dead last, that's why they're going full-PR blitz now: they need to make up the ground on Sony/Steam..etc, and they're doing it by essentially conceding this generation's race to them, and building up good will to get as good a launch as possible for their next console, just like Sony had to do the same when launching the PS4.

MS is just doing Steam along with its Windows store. They're not doing Epic, because well, fuck Epic. And technically if they purchased the 3rd party devs, they're first party now. So you'll be able to play these games on the biggest PC platform (and the MS Store) and XBox. I mean, when they say play where you want, they really mean PC. They could do the unthinkable and actually give them PS releases.

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure Microsoft is acting all nice with letting you buy their products anywhere because they want to profit with subscription services, and they want you to pay them no matter what platform you are.

Xcloud will profit them, and of course, they want it even in rival platforms.

I mean it doesn't matter if it's Steam, epic or their own store, you're still using Windows to play. You're least likely to switch to Mac or Linux anytime soon if you are attached to your windows exclusive games (or all games in other words.) Not that they were ever a threat to them.

PC and Nintendo have existed in this weird bubble where they don't actually seem affected by whatever the other two spastics (PS and Xbox) are doing, and I think Microsoft finally realized that and decided to further cement themselves in with the two iron pillars unlike Sony, and DEFINITELY smell blood in the water regarding the recent move of Playstation having it's own censorship on top of any ESRB rating alienating Japanese devs who've Sony managed to monopolized for more than 2 decades. Imagine being the only console to NOT get Persona 5 and now having the freshest, most delectable bait.

I think the failure to net the Japanese market and developers has forever been a sore point and they're seeing the opportunity to try coming across as the furthest reaching, most open platform so they can make bank. It's easier to sell to a Japanese dev on a PC port via the windows store + steam alongside their Switch release for their game vs a heavy censorship policy based on a western HQ to the game they only intend to release to the Japanese market anyway. Senran Kagura for instance, and even easier to sell them on a PC + Xbox release for the international market as opposed to just the PlayStation, who refuses to play nice with the other platforms as we saw with Fortnite PS4 players being locked out on all other platforms having cross saves and crossplay.

Another angle might be giving up ground in the Console market and like absolute madmen, actually sell their games on other platforms via Xcloud while denying Stadia all their first party titles and backlog to force Google out and win the all goodboy points, with the supposed partnership with Sony in consoles likely being a tacit agreement to tell Stadia to syuck a dick and using their combined clout as established platforms with heavy support and their own studios, as well as letting Sony piggyback their own service off Microsoft's infrastructure as a means of having some power to flex on them when the Stadia threat is eliminated.
