Your first exposure to Chris

I was first exposed to Chris like many with the TvTropes page of Sonichu in 2010. At the time, i've heard some stories about Chris-Chan and the massive wave of trolling that ensued, but i didn't paid too much attention, and i've stayed away from reading Sonichu.

Then last year, i've suddenly craved to read Sonichu in it's entire glory and when i googled the title, i've found sonichu.com. To my big surprise, it was an entire wiki dedicated not only to Sonichu, but mainly it's author Christian Weston Chandler. And then i was curious to know more about this guy and how could he made something as abominable as Sonichu, and i was down the rabbit hole...

My first exposure to Chris was through Harry Partridge's Nicholas Cage wants cake animation from 2010. What's interesting though is at the time I first saw the video I had no clue who Chris was and didn't really know about Chris until 2012 when things started calming down for him. So I went 2 whole years having been exposed to Chris-Chan without even knowing it.

Reality hits you hard, bro.
AIDS is the same way...

For me it was the ED page, followed by the CWCwiki. I think I came this way through thinking it was related to 4chan. i.e. I was probably reading the article on Cracky Chan, and noticed the similar naming, and then began several years of following our hero's adventures.

I'd actually heard about "Chris-chan" for a few years. I didn't know much about him, I generally would just overhear others mention him, or frequently see his name on ED, but I never really bothered to check it out. The only thing that I generally knew about him, was that he was apparently infamous, on the internet, for some reason. I honestly figured that he was just some weird guy who made videos or something. Then, I was talking to a friend one night, and they were jokingly comparing someone to "Chris-chan", and so I got curious, and googled him, and stumbled onto the CWCki.

Wow, people talk about Chris in real life? I need new friends...I tried bringing up Chris-Chan to a couple people but they ended up thinking I was some kind of jerk. None of his evil deeds mattered to them 'cause autsimu (Chris's autsimu...though they may be afflicted as well).

Edit: @Nick Drake
Yeah I even brought up his cure for gayness and still no dice. :(

Same. I mentioned Chris to this one girl in class and she was like "Why would anybody make fun of some autistic guy like that." But once I showed her one his Facebook rants I think she began to understand.

I have friends who are, like myself, into terrible movies of the "Manos" and "The Room" variety; the "Sonichu" comic can have some appeal on the same level.

It can also be fun to see people react to videos like "The Rape of Ivy" in the right context (e.g., a party where people are taking turns pulling up strange or amusing YouTube videos). I still remember how unbearably uncomfortable I was the first time I saw that video.

@heyyyJackiePie is the nicest, least malevolent guy IRL. I didn't know if he'd go for it at first, but even he couldn't resist a chuckle after being introduced. There's just something about CWC where you just can't take it serious and have to laugh that this exists.

I've been quite interested to see how women react to Chris. @lipitor and I showed Chris to some British friends the guy thought it was hilarious and even wanted to come with us to the hearing, but his girlfriend became physically ill watching the "Rape of Ivy" video. She became so uncomfortable we had to change the subject altogether.

I had to look back to remember exactly how long I've been following this, and I had to have been from nearly the very beginning of it all.
I couldn't actually say what my first exposure to him was, I think it was likely just from browsing ED as I had little better to do at the time.

But, I found one of the early videos I pieced together forever and a day ago, that still exists and hasn't been pulled down or flagged over the years.

Oh the memories...

my first exposure to Chris was at the bad web comics wiki.

At first, i thought Sonichu was some shit posted by a minor with aid from an adult (i didn't see/read everything), but OHH BOY, was I proven wrong.

Well, I mean, from a certain technical perspective you weren't wrong
Chris is a 6 year old boy in the body of a 50 year old insane bag lady

I never heard of Chris until recently, but I knew about Sonichu before I heard about Chris. I have always thought that Sonichu was just some random OC that someone made on the internet and never really looked into its origins.

I'll never forget the day I discovered Chris...

Actually, I have no idea what day it was, or what year for that matter (2011 perhaps?): I was reading about Edarem on ED one day, and someone hyperlinked his infamous page in the article. His name kept popping up on other articles as well, and curiosity got the best of me. I clicked it, started reading, clicked play on the "MY NAME IS NOT IAN BRANDON SOMETHING" video, and I couldn't believe my eyes. Was this guy for real? Is this really happening? Went to the Cwcki, kept reading article after article...oh my God, this guy is for real.

Got exposed to chris back when /v/ /b/ and /co/ used to spam his comics. Following the breadcrumbs lead me to ED, which I saw that infamous saga unfold with my very eyes. Practically watched our autistic man child grow up into a beautiful tomgirl, sunrise sunset

Wow, people talk about Chris in real life?

I met a person and later befriended them because they overheard my friend and I joking about Sonichu.

On topic, I learned about Chris back in like 2010, around the time he took his "leave" from the internet. I was watching the BlackBusterCritic I believe, and even though the video was about KingMasterReview or someone else, either BBC or a commentator mentioned him a bunch of times and I finally took the time to google him. The audiobooks and Sonichu the Animated Series were the first things I checked out.

Think I had heard about him for a while but honestly didn't really try to dig deeper into his rabbit hole until more recently. I definitely remember watching a YouTube video a long time ago where the hosts talked about him a little bit among seeing people make references to the guy sometimes.

My first exposure to Chris was very early on. In late 2007, like right when he first broke out.
Someone on a forum I was a member of at the time just wrote something to the tune of,
"I just read all of Chris-chan's ED page. Holy shit...HOLY SHIT..."

So I got curious and read up on him, and the rest is pretty much history.
From that day, I followed all of Chris-chan's exploits as they unfolded.

Don't you mean the rest is...christory? :tomgirl:

I was browsing a cringe sub on reddit in 2013 and came across a picture of Chris in his room. In the comments people were talking about this "Chris-chan" guy so I googled him. I came across the CWCki, and started reading the comics, then the articles. I was so fascinated with the guy I read every single article, every email, every mailbag, etc. I know I missed the golden ages of trolling, but the hours I've spent just reading about Chris makes up for the lost years for me.
