If you had to pick the best game released in 2017, what would it be and why?

Breath of the Wild

Not only the best game of 2017 but the best launch title of any system ever.

It made me buy a console for the first time since 2006

No contest.

Hollow Knight is honestly absolutely incredible as an indie game AND as a metroidvania. The game has a beautiful and simplistic artstyle, is very hard, encourages exploration and has a ton of secrets. What more could you want from a metroidvania?

Mario Odyssey, it's the best Mario games in 10 years.

Runners-up:

Resident Evil 7, It's not number one because the ending and most of the DLC sucked
The Evil Within 2, for kicking the first one's ass
South Park Fractured But Whole, not as good as the first game
Cuphead because it looks like a cartoon and it a great job of it

Shit shows:

Prey, started out great then the game wander off into nothing about 7 hours in and I stopped playing it
Final Fantasy 15, boring
Outlast 2, Disappointing

A lot of games came out this year.

NieR:Automata. The demo was the first thing I ever played on my PS4 Pro when I got one for Christmas in 2016. After finishing it, I immediately fell in love with it and pre-ordered the game without any hesitation.

The game was unlike anything I had previously experienced, and it introduced me to the insanely amazing mind of Yoko Taro. It is a treasure.

Yakuza 0 is my pick for non-2017 game. Probably the most fun I've had in a game in recent years.

Persona 5 technically doesn't count as a 2017 game since it originally came out in 2016. So, it's gotta' Hollow Knight. I have big hard on when it comes to metroidvanias, and Hollow Knight is a damn good one, so... you know.

Prey, started out great then the game wander off into nothing about 7 hours in and I stopped playing it
Though it did get repetitive around the halfway point, it was still a okay game in my eyes. Not an amazing game, mind you, but certainly not a shit show either.

I have a soft spot for Team Ninja and enjoy throwing controllers so for me Nioh was my 2017 GOTY. Hard as balls, abusable mechanics, top notch weeb fashion, and Samurai Geralt made for a fun romp.

Why did that happen, again? Was it some kind of mental leap between “old-timey toon style” and racism? Or was it something less stupid?

Faggots and cucks being faggots and cucks. They will always find a way.

As for my picks, for non 2017 game its the Witcher 3. Finally beat it in 2017 and I must say its prolly one of the better non JRPGs I have played in years. The sole fact its an actual RPG puts it ahead of much of its AAA competition. The combat is weak thou.

As for 2017 game da year Rising Storm 2. It has issues (Fix your netcode you Limey Georgian fucks), but its fun and put a fuck load of hours in it.

That said I did not play a lot of other 2017 releases as I tend to get the games 1 year or more after their release while they are on sale or somethin TBH.
