Your game that DEFINED the ps2?

How did we go from the hedonistic young people of the early 2000s to the commies of 20 years later? I remember when being young was synonymous with caring about nothing but getting drunk, getting high and getting your dick wet.
They're both devoid of proper morals, broadly speaking, so it's no surprise.

Final Fantasy X and X-2
Based rare X-2 enjoyer.

The Final Fantasies (I'll include X-2 solely because of the battle system), GTA Vice City, Gran Turismo 3-4, Ape Escape 2, Dark Cloud 1-2, the Xenosagas.
It's a long list but it was the best console, it's hard to pick just a couple.

never had one back then as a kid, though i'd eventually get to playing god of war, mgs2, and silent hill 2 through emulation later on. those are the most stand out to me so far

I don't know how I'm supposed to pick just ONE game out of one of the greatest game libraries of any console generation. I remember standing in line on launch day. I picked up Unreal Tournament that day, and played the shit out of it. I played most of the greats like MGS 2 & 3, DMC 1-3, UT, Syphon Filter, WWF Smackdown, etc, but if I had to pick one game to define the PS2, it would be Darkwatch.

Tekken Tag Tournament because it was the last time I can think that a fighter had true universal appeal.

Fatal Frame 1 and or 2.

You ask me. " Hey chuckles whats the first ps2 game that pops in your head" and it will always be one of those 2 games.

Ps2 and fatal fame 1 and 2 are just interlinked in my mind. Living rent free.

I will say I do think it might just to do with my love for horror games, or the fact they both really good games IMO.

I can't even remember the story for 1 or 2 it's been so damn long but I still think of the games.

It's like how the first game(s) for the gamecube I think of is RE4, or RE1 remake.

I have not looked at 3 4 or 5.

I think this boils down to these games have made a lasting impression on me.

I really liked how in FF1-3 just how weak you feel in those games compared to other horror games. You don't even get weapons which makes it stand out compared to other games. Taking pictures with the camera is fun trying to take really crappy rushed photos while hoping the ghosts didn't get close enough to touch you nothing else quite like it.

Strange question when what defined the ps2 was its massive 3rd party library of top tier games. They don't make games that good anymore.

Any list of the greatest games of all time is going to be almost entirely comprised of ps2 games. Its also the last time they made survival horror games so you have fatal frame, sh2-4, rule of rose, haunting ground, clock tower 3, siren and a few others. Fans of that entire genre didnt have anything for decades after that.
