I do have a question for the ladies here: I have a ton of old stuffed animals in plastic bags in the basement of my mother's house. Some of them are quite old and unlikely to have cleaning instructions, if their tags are legible at all. What is the safest way to clean stuffed animals without causing damage?

I put mine through the washing machine with no problems. Gentle cycle with washbags if you’re worried. I should point out that I have a small domestic front loading machine which is quite gentle on the whole. Industrial type machines such as in laundromats and some apartment buildings might be less gentle.

*edit to add* If you go back a few pages there are several posts where people have gone into more detail on their cleaning methods too.

*one more edit* The last washing machine I had even had a specific soft toy cycle, so if your machine is newer that’s worth checking for.

Any of you guys watch Sgt. Frog? I started getting into it recently and these cutie pies arrived in my mail today!

Sadly, Kururu wasn't included. But that doesn't matter, because having four is more than enough!

That's not Inky anymore. That's a husk. You loved on him so much, he became a husk.
Yeah, he's been through a lot of love.

Hi ! It's gonna depend of their fabrics but, if you're not sure, always go with a lukewarm bath with some soap and wash them by hand !

I think it's due to my native language, in French, bio means organic/natural as, a lot of soaps sold in supermarket are full of bad ingredients.
Okay, let's try this.

Je pense que vous voulez dire « organic » en anglais. En anglais, « bio soap » pourrait signifier un nettoyant enzymatique.

People will spend more than that on a night of drinking and only have a hangover to show for it. This by comparison seems a far better and more wholesome investment if you ask me.

I have a stuffed monkey, called monkey. Had since I was a baby. It hasn't been washed in decades and his head is falling off, hence I don't want to wash it, lest his head come off.

Just sew it back on
Unless there's not enough material to sew back on with. My childhood teddy bear's head came off so many times that Mom had to out-right tell me to stop abusing her because there was going to be no way to sew her head back on if it happened again. So in an attempt to try and save her from future damage (especially in the wash/dryer), I tied on a ribbon around her neck to see if it would keep her head on.

Probably worked, but I always worry. Though since then, I did stop roughhousing her, so that might've been it.
