I don't like the aesthetics of it, but I have great respect for what it stood for. Right and wrong go out the window if you're fighting on your own ground, with your neighbors to your left and right.

It seems like most people who fly it prominently are white trash, especially if you're well north of the M-D line. Other than that I really don't care one way or the other, it means nothing to me beyond being a historical artifact.

It's kind of ugly but that makes sense because it stood out in battle and prevented friendly fire. That happened a lot at First Manassas due to how similar the US and Confederate national flags could appear in poor visibility. Nothing wrong with that, it's supposed to be functional and not pretty.

I am a direct descendant of CSA veterans. I know their names, what regiment and company they were in, I've seen archives of letters they wrote, and one even lived long enough to be photographed in his old age. I happen to think all of this is pretty cool.

However since I grew up in the south when Jeff Foxworthy was popular I have a knee jerk and incurable association between battle flag imagery and a certain type of person that's just fucking exhausting to be around. If you're of a similar age and demographic to me you already know who I mean, but for everyone else, here's some highlights:

-Always wearing camo
-Permanent stench of Pall Mall smoke from grade 9 onward
-May have a natural southern twang but deliberately exaggerates it or adopts the "wrong" one (e.g. a fake Georgia accent despite living whole life in Appalachia)
-Fucking dip spit. God damn. Dip is finely shredded chewing tobacco usually placed between the lower lip and gum. Without getting into the laundry list of health issues you get from it, you cannot swallow your saliva with this shit in your mouth or you'll get violently ill. So these fucking pasture apes are constantly spitting this viscous slimy looking brown fluid all over the place. Seeing it run down the floor of my school bus under the seats is a core memory of mine. Holy fuck I'm mad all over again just writing this.

I forgot what we were talking about. Something about Pickett's Charge? Anyway Lee should have listened to Longstreet.

It is cool looking flag . And there are plenty of examples of awful flags in US.
Like half of state flags are just state seal on generic blue background

Try draw these . You get
bonus points if you manage to do it from your memory.

Im sure most retards know this but this is the actual flag of The Confederate States of America. Why do people only care about the battle flag?

There's a negative connotation with the Confederacy flag after the Dylann Roof church shooting. I share a similar sentiment when I see the flag. That said, there's a nuance of what the flag SHOULD represent that is missing as society progresses. I can understand seeing it flown if I would go down South since it IS a piece of Southern history that should not be forgotten. Nowadays, I see it as a cheap way to illicit a negative response.

I associate it with the General Lee, and the General Lee was the coolest car ever captured on film.

Nobody should care, ideally.
These are pseudo-politics based on symbols and triggering libs/cons.
They never result in any material improvements to anyone's life, besides the rich who get to continue waging their class solidarity against the poorfags who are too retarded to care about money and wealth and instead fight for flags

I have no cultural or ancestral connections to the Confederacy, but I think that it's a nice-looking flag. All the sperging out about it only turns it into a modern day rebel icon. People outside the South and even outside the US have started to use it.
That's really one thing I like about the confederate flag. It's got that rebel feel to it. It's like the modern day equivalent of Che Guevara T shirts.

I work with a dude who has a battle flag tattoo and exclusively wears confederate or jack daniels related t-shirts. He’s from New England. Looks like a total faggot and gets no bitches.
I mean, sticking to your guns even is it hurts your chances of forming relationships with others? I unironically respect that.

the Stars and Bars look much better, even though it's sorta funny that it just looks like a weaker version of the Union flag

They're all there on the wall when you walk down into the man cave and the idea is to piss everyone off.
unfathomably based

It could be interesting then someone do a t shirt of Che Guevera wearing a Confederate flag justfor the fun to see the blood pressure of these leftists going sky high.
If we're tearing down symbols of America's enemies that lost against us, I'd like to see us demolish monuments for Native Americans. I mean, we have to be fair, right?
Yeah, what's good for the goose is good for the gander I guess.

I think that the people who care about it for reasons outside of a genuine historical interest are weirdos, but as long as they aren't going out and lynching people or breaking any other laws, they have a first amendment right to fly the flag. However, I also have a first amendment right to make fun of them for flying a loser flag.
